The Right... Moments of Chic

IMG_1691

IMG_1683

In the dead of winter I feel there are few things that can spice up an outfit but a nice little pop of color definitely does the trick!  I gave this all grey 'erythang outfit some pizazz with these cobalt shoes and was pretty happy with the results!  I was starting to feel like all I've been wearing is my black marshmallow coat.  Can you say time for an intervention?

The Right... Gold Party Skirt

IMG_9324

You definitely saw this skirt during the fall East vs. West collab and now it's back.  When I first tried it on I wondered when I would wear it and it's definitely been a go to for parties this fall/holiday season!  In fact I'm wearing a winterized version to a party tonight (I just added tights and I'm ready to go!).  I'm slowly losing track of how many holiday parties and festivities I've been partaking in - we're on the home stretch though.  And I leave for a weekend in SF and then a week at home next Friday.  I cannot.wait.

Work to Weekend w/David Bromstad for Naturalizer

You guys.  I have very exciting news - this is one of the top pinch me moments and highlights since starting this little blog...

Tomorrow I get to host the Q&A with David Bromstad on Naturalizer's Google+ page to talk about his new fall collection!  I am beyond excited for this opportunity and the best part is, my readers get the first opportunity to ask him questions!  Leave them in the comments below, tweet them at me, DM me, etc. and I'll get to ask him for you!

And on that note, I hope you'll tune into the Google+ Hangout sesh and watch the interview - it's going live at 2:30 PM EST and here's the link: http://ow.ly/BH2nX.  If you tweet me be sure to use #Bromstad4Naturalizer.

Now for the best part - I'm showing you how I style my favorite pair from the collection for work and for weekend!  Can't wait to show you the outfit IRL (I have been traveling like a crazy person and will get the pics up soon!)

Window Shopping Wednesday: Currently Coveting

Today I wanted to share a few things I've been eyeing around the internets.  I know we're still in the middle of summer but I can't help but start to want to gravitate toward some fall fashion!  Or at least transition pieces, like that camo skirt and that tweed jacket - I'm keeping the rest light and airy for you though!

The Right... Western Boots

Happy Monday!!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  Mine consisted of a spur of the moment Zac Brown Band concert/beach day in New Jersey followed by brunch with a friend from home on Sunday at Cornelia Street Cafe (I highly recommend it - the food was delish!).  I spent the rest of Sunday prepping for the week ahead (it'll be a busy one with a Cyc fitness rooftop ride tonight, a work event tomorrow and the Edeyo Gives Hope Ball on Wednesday).  Today I'm taking you back to an outfit I wore to the Tough Enough to Wear Pink night at the Reno Rodeo while I was home and showing off the boots I practically lived in while I was there (why did I pack any other shoes??).

Speaking of the Edeyo Gives Hope Ball, I am honored to be a guest at the event and encourage you to check out the organization.  They are a non-profit organization based in New York City, that is devoted to providing a high-quality free education, food, water, and social support to the children of the impoverished Bel-Air neighborhood, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Tune in on Wednesday for a special Window Shopping Wednesday post with some tips for dressing for formal occasions - I did I mention this is my first formal gala I've ever attended?  I'm a little nervous!

Window Shopping Wednesday: Gap/Banana Republic/Piperlime Summer Sale

You guys.  It's definitely summer sale time and today I'm sharing all my favorites from Gap, Banana Republic and Piperlime.  I love me a good sale and these stores are definitely killing it.  Like up to 75% off at Gap right now.  I'm leaning toward a lot of basics at Gap and Banana Republic and Piperlime never fails me with cute and a little bit different pieces.

The Week: Fashion, Food and Fitness

This last week I...

Hit the gym 4 times!  I'm finally getting back into a routine and it feels great.  Now I just need to actually use that kickboxing class I purchased on Groupon....

Image via pinterest
Had an impromptu brunch and shopping sesh with Jen and Krista last Saturday when our photo sesh got completely rained out.  Krista and I ventured to the UWS (like wayyyyyy UWS) to get supplies at Michael's for the DIY I posted about last weekend.  I ended up with a new friend for my dresser, a super cute pair of shoes from TJ Maxx (coming to the blog next week!) and some hot pink striped straws.  Because everyone needs hot pink striped straws.  Right?  Right.

Could not stop drooling over this Halston Heritage dress.  And as fate would have it the day after I tried it on for size to stalk until it went on sale, it went on sale for 40% off.  After working my "shopping math" wizard magic, I scored it for more than 50% off.  Now that's a great feeling.

Found out I'm running the NYC marathon!!!!!  What?!  Time to start training!  Well, not seriously til August...

Started up with #StyleMeApril!  It's been about 2 years since I first participated and it was super helpful with my outifts last week!  Want to learn more?  Head to Hilary Rushford's blog for all the deets.

Guest posted for Sarah as she makes a big move back to our hometown!  Check out the post here.

Met David Bromstad at the David Bromstad x Naturalizer press event!  I love David and was SO excited to meet him and see his collection - it truly was inspiring.  More on deets that later!

I picked up some coral nail polish for the first time ever!  One of my besties raved about Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant so I thought I'd give it a shot and try a new hue!

Made this amazing chicken/bacon/broccoli/rice dish - it was SO easy and a fun little treat for dinner each night.

Also, I'm gearing up for the Peter Som x Kohl's launch next week - have you seen it?  Seriously great pieces - check them all out here.  What are you eyeing?!  I am having a hard time narrowing down my choices...  That could be a problem.

May have done some post HH shopping with the Piperlime 25% off sale - they have some really great stuff right now!  Hurry, the sale ends tomorrow!

I'm also still planning to stop by the United Nude sample sale next week - if you're in the area be sure to check it out!

Whew - that was a full week wasn't it?  What did you do this week?

North v. South Style: Monochromatic

Welcome to week two of the North v. South Style collab!!!  Today we are styling up some monochromatic looks for you in all of the great fall/winter colors.  I was really excited to try the cream/winter white trend for this week and what better way to do it than in a chunky knit?  I still can't take off this coat I scored at Piperlime a couple weeks ago and I've gotten so many compliments on it.  It's definitely important to have a good statement coat for this city because come winter this is what most people see instead of your outfit!

Check out everyone's looks below!

Work to Play: Peplum Top

If you caught yesterday's post you'll know I'm working on a new/regular feature for the blog called "Work to Play."  This came about because I have realized how versatile I've had to make my wardrobe to keep up with this crazy city.  It's really common to go from work to play and not have the ability to swing by my apartment to change (especially since my move uptown!).  I hope you like the new feature and I hope it gives you some inspiration to take some of those pieces in your own wardrobe and style them for work and for play.  It's all about maximizing your wardrobe these days.

Here's how I styled the peplum top for a night out:

Floral Peplums and Fall Leather

Happy Wednesday!  Boy does time get away from me sometimes.  And I have to say, living without internet at my current apartment is really cutting into my blogging abilities.  Sorry for leaving you hanging for so long!  I was off to San Antonio last weekend and barely had enough time to catch my breath to get back to work on Monday, let alone get a post done!

I'm starting a new feature on the blog called "work to play" and today is the first outfit! I've been all about the leather for fall and can't stop wearing it - even to work, as you can see below.  Tune in tomorrow to see how I style my top for "play."

Central Park Lace and Leaves

Last year I tried to do a Central Park outfit shoot to try to capture all the fall colors but we were about two weeks to early.  The stars aligned this year and as Katie, Shelby, Jen and I strolled through Central Park this last weekend we were greeted by the most amazing color scheme.
 photo falltextures2_zpsbc459a41.jpg
Coat: Piperlime, Top: c/o Promod (similar), Skirt: c/o Parker (similar), Booties: LOFT (similar), Necklace: Stella & Dot, Purse: Kate Spade, Bracelets: Stella & Dot and c/o Max & Chloe

I scooped up this coat on major sale this last weekend during our SoHo shopping adventures and I literally can't take it off.  It's the perfect transition piece!  It also happened to pair perfectly with my new top from Promod (who is new to the United States btw!!).
