The Right... Summer Party Dress

Oh 10 year high school reunions.  At 10 years everyone has been out of high school long enough to possibly get married, start a family, travel the world, go to grad school, get an amazing job, switch jobs, move to numerous new cities (or stay in your hometown), stay friends with people from high school, not talk to anyone from high school... The list goes on.  This past weekend I had my 10 year high school reunion and it was awesome.  Some people I know have dreaded their reunions but I was genuinely excited to go and see everyone.  I planned it with one of my best friends from high school (because yes, I was senior class president, which apparently is coming as no surprise to those who know me) and it was an absolute blast.  We rented out Cargo at the Whitney Peak Hotel (possibly the coolest concert venue in Reno) and we had so much fun that we kept the party going past the planned 2 hours.  I am so lucky that a lot of my class was really close during school and that many have stayed friends even after school and everyone was generally excited to be there.

Now on to the more exciting part - the outfit!  I debated for the longest time what to wear.  I really wanted to buy a new dress but I really wanted to buy a dress I could wear to the reunion and two weddings but when I couldn't find one to go for all three occasions I decided to shop my own closet and wear this guy!  I picked it up during my shopping trip to the Tanger Outlets and I've been in love ever since.  The asymmetrical hem is by far my favorite part.

Window Shopping Wednesday: Spring Refresh

February was cold.  So cold that it was one of the coldest in history since at least 1934.  Crazy right? Well all this chill has me dreaming of Spring and the good ole days when I could run around in a dress sans tights, with some strappy shoes.  And all the spring arrivals popping up aren't helping either!

Today I'm sharing my favorite Spring things I'm dreaming of to refresh my wardrobe.  I'm clearly digging neutrals, a softer pastel palette and some pops of pattern here and there - what are you eying for Spring?!

The Right... Fall Layers

It's amazing how much mileage I've gotten out of this LOFT romper since I bought it.  I figured I'd wear it through September and the put it away until next spring but I've found myself reaching for it over and over and layering it multiple ways to continue to mix it up.  This was one of our first really cold days this fall and I definitely felt I had enough layers on (maybe should have been wearing pants vs tights but whatevs - I'm not quite ready to commit to that yet).  I will also definitely be wearing this with a turtleneck/cozy sweater over as another cold weather option.

And these booties?  Can we talk about them for a second?  I had yet to find a pair of ankle booties that didn't cut off my legs at a really awkward spot and these ones are perfect IMO!  They also have a bit of a western style to them which makes that west coast/country part of me really happy.

The Right... Fall Romper

IMG_5537

I have to admit, I have a love/hate relationship with rompers.  I love them because they can be so easy but I hate them because, well... bathroom.  This one however, I'm ok having that sliver of "hate" because I have been ob-sessed with it since I bought it.  As in may or may not have worn it once a week... #sorrynotsorry

This was my favorite combo to date with this romper and I'm working on a "ways to wear" remix for you (I figured out I can hide it under a pencil skirt for maximum versatility) so stay tuned for that!  I had a blast shooting these photos with Meaghan and was excited to finally take pics in front of her infamous backdrop that I love so much.

Window Shopping Wednesday: Back to Basics

Sometimes you just need to go back to the basics and build your wardrobe from the ground up.  Lately I've realized I'm missing a couple of these basics or that they need to be replaced and upgraded a little.  I'm definitely missing a good skinny black dress pant and believe it or not I lost my grey cardigan a while ago which created a huge hole.  As we approach the fall months cardigans are definitely a key layering piece!  Oh and ballet flats are definitely a must - I've been really drawn to red lately and they create a great pop of color in an outfit!

And I think it may be time to upgrade my trench coat - I've had it for about 8 years now (crazy, I know!) - and it's definitely feeling a little smaller lately.

What's on your list for basics?  Have you discovered you're missing anything as of late?

Window Shopping Wednesday: Currently Coveting

Today I wanted to share a few things I've been eyeing around the internets.  I know we're still in the middle of summer but I can't help but start to want to gravitate toward some fall fashion!  Or at least transition pieces, like that camo skirt and that tweed jacket - I'm keeping the rest light and airy for you though!

The Right... Ball Game Outfit

One of the things I love about summer are baseball games.  There's nothing quite like spending the afternoon outside at a ball game drinking a beer.  And in my opinion baseball is always better in person :).  My first Yankees game of the season was a couple of weekends ago and I opted for a blue/white outfit instead of a team tee.  Sometimes team tees are the easy way out but IMO team colors are more fun to play with (especially when you throw in a  pair of lace shorts - pretty much my weakness in the summer time).  What are you wearing to your favorite team game this summer?
