Following up to my quick life updated on Monday, I am so excited to share details on my next travel adventure: I'll be spending 9 days in France in April. If you've been following me long enough, you know I went to Paris, Florence and Milan a little over two years ago. I'm so excited to go back to France, I can hardly contain myself. I'll be spending a few days in Paris, running the Paris Marathon and exploring a few things I didn't see the first time, and then heading to the South of France (Nice, specifically) for the remainder of the week. I'm using Nice as my base for the week and plan to adventure around so if you have any suggestions (things to see/do, places I must eat at, etc.) send them my way!
In true Tracy fashion, I've been working on my packing list for quite some time now. My goal is to travel as light as possible (which will be a little tough considering I need to pack all my marathon gear!) so I can do some shopping while I'm there. I did some pretty light shopping buying souvenirs last time I was in Europe but my goal this time is to actually spend some money on myself. I also want to travel as light as possible because I've gotten quite used to only packing a carry on (even for trips home in the winter!). I fly standby a lot and carrying on is really the only way to go.
My travel outfit lists usually include versatile pieces that I can dress up or down or mix and match to get the most wear without having to pack different outfits for every single day. I was so excited when Banana Republic asked me to participate in their "What Moves Us" campaign. I'd say two of the biggest things that move me include versatile wardrobe pieces and experiencing new things by traveling to new places.
Versatile wardrobe pieces, like this amazing shirt dress, are great for traveling and also great to take from desk (with a blazer and heels) to weekend (with a scarf and flats). It'll definitely be making it into my suit case. And I can't forget about these ballet flats because I know they'll be super necessary while I run around France for the week.

Don't let the smile in the first photo fool you - these pictures were taking on a true Manic Monday. Followed by yet another rainy week. I always find myself thinking about each seasons' weather and comparing it to years past where I'll find myself thinking that the current weather is a complete anomaly. But then I realize I can't remember how the weather was this time last year so I just accept it as the norm and groan along with the rest of New York City that the current situation is less than ideal It sure makes me wonder if summer will ever come.
Speaking of this weather, it's been a bit difficult to dress but I've been focused on light layers. I love a good cardigan come fall and winter but since they're usually on the heavier side I don't think about them much once it really warms up for Spring/Summer. This year I noticed a ton of light weight long cardigans popping up and knew I had to add one to my closet. This one was perfect as a light layer when we had our first (and what feels like last) round of 70 degree beautiful Spring weather. It's great for wearing while commuting and also perfect for the office. I am definitely planning to style it with shorts and dresses once we hit much warmer weather (for the record it's been gross chilly and rainy for at least two weeks now).

Ahhh summer in the city. There's nothing quite like it, especially when it comes to getting dressed. Getting dressed to go work in a professional environment in a city with crazy humidity spells can be challenging. And especially challenging for a girl who grew up around dry heat and still isn't used to humidity (I will always be convinced that dry heat is more bearable). Most work days I want the least amount of clothing touching my skin as possible but considering a bra and underwear don't really fly in the office, an easy breezy dress is the next best thing. I was pumped when I snagged this guy at Club Monaco during their last big sale. I knew it'd be on heavy rotation and I haven't been wrong.
Happy Monday! Can we just quickly talk about where this summer went? I know it isn't over yet but I recently had a reality check when I realized there's only a couple of weeks left of summer. Crazy how time flies when you're having fun! I'm still trying to squeeze in a couple more adventures before "shitshow September" hits. One of my coworkers used this phrase last week and I died laughing because it's true - everyone comes back to the city right after Labor Day and it's go time until the holidays.
In the meantime, I definitely plan on running around in easy outfits like this one.

I typically struggle with shift dresses because my hips can tend to be a little tooooo large for the shape but when I saw this super affordable, amazing pink shift dress at Nordstrom I knew I had to give it a shot. I read the reviews and almost ordered a size up but luckily it wasn't available so I purchased in my actual size and as fate would have it, it fit!! I was so excited!! It's so lightweight and perfect for summer - dressing it up for the office or down for weekends.
Also, how amazing is this wall? It's actually an art installation out on the west side highway full of artists names. Leave it to Krista to find an awesome backdrop for us!
Nothing like an edgy twist to a classic lace shift, right? You know I like to push the limit and this dress/gladiator boot combo definitely helps me do just that!
Throw a blazer on and I'm ready for work! Well sort of. I'm not sure how receptive the commercial real estate industry will be to my gladiator boots :).
Hello There!! I feel like it's been days since I've talked to you guys! Oh wait.... It has - major apologies for the serious haitius but things have gotten a little busy in the real life. I wore this springy get up to a work luncheon I had a couple of weeks ago and I have to admit, I want to wear it all.the.time.now. It's just so good and such a fun color.
