The Right... Leopard Dress Remix

IMG_5422

IMG_5418

Happy Friday!  We made it!  Everything seemed to calm down from fashion week but pick right back up at the career job - funny how that works right?  I'm headed to Chicago today for a short weekend getaway with one of my besties - follow along on my instagram and twitter for all the action.  And if you haven't followed along yet, I'm taking over the Laqa & Co instagram until Sunday - head over there for more of my adventures!

Anyway, onto the good stuff.  When I bought this Ann Taylor dress I knew it'd quickly become a staple in my wardrobe so I decided to challenge myself to style it beyond just one outfit post (and let's be serious.. when these outfit photos were taken it was about a thousand degrees and humid beyond all belief so I wanted to do some transitional styling).

The Right... Palm Print Dress

IMG_5001

IMG_5003

It seemed like palm leave prints popped up everywhere this summer and I was so excited to get my hands on this guy!  I threw on my new mules (yes, I finally broke down and bought a pair) and a blazer to show how I'd wear it for drinks with the gals.

Also, can we talk about how great this Brahmin clutch is?  I went to their press preview last week and fell in love with everything.  Seriously, they have the best stuff coming out!  And this clutch proved to be perfect for a night out this last weekend (it holds a ton!).

The Right... Edgy Lace

Nothing like an edgy twist to a classic lace shift, right?  You know I like to push the limit and this dress/gladiator boot combo definitely helps me do just that!

Throw a blazer on and I'm ready for work!  Well sort of.  I'm not sure how receptive the commercial real estate industry will be to my gladiator boots :).

The Right... Leather Peplum

I feel like a bit of a broken record here but lately I've been really pushing the envelope with my work attire (and really any outfit I've been wearing) and this leather peplum at the office was no exception.  That's the beauty of living in New York City - you can experiment all you want and never feel out of place.

I scored this leather peplum on major sale after the holidays on Piperlime and I've been looking for a good reason to style it for the office.  I think that whole not wanting to "waste an outfit" thing came into play so when I had a full day of meetings and two events I decided to pull it out and go for it.  I realize my go-to for work is to just throw a blazer on it, but I really think this is the best way to make a lot of things work.

So here it is, a simple yet chic leather peplum styled for work:

The Bowery Wall

Happy Monday Tuesday!!  That three day weekend went by wayyy too fast!  Just wanted to pop by with my typical work uniform as of late (blazer + dress+ statement necklace + boots) and also share this amazing piece of artwork with you.  I spotted it on Gary Pepper Girl's insta during NYFW and completely obsessed over it, stalked the internet and found out it was the Bowery mural wall.  I really really love finding surprises like this all over this city.  Never gets old.

Blazer: Massimo Dutti (similar here), Dress: Tobi (similar here), Boots: Stuart Weitzman, Bag: c/o Folli Follie (similar here), Necklace: Lisa Freede c/o Neiman Marcus (similar here), Sunnies: c/o Sunglass Warehouse

Stripes and Sunnies

I'm throwing it back a couple weeks with the outfit today (before the arctic tundra descended over the city...).  Sometimes it's nice to start with a solid black foundation and add some printed layers for the office.  I was totally twinning with one of my co-workers this day too (I swear we all spend too much time together because this happens more than you think!) - see the last pic for proof.

Jacket: Warehouse (similar here and here), Dress: Massimo Dutti (similar), Tights: Uniqlo, Shoes: (vintage) Salvatore Ferragamo, Scarf: thrifted, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Neckacles: J. Crew and C. Wonder, Watch: Fossil, Sunglasses: c/o Sunglass Warehouse

Gentle Fawn for Winter

Remember this post with my lovely printed blouse from Gentle Fawn?  Well, I decided it was time to style it for winter.  I threw together this quick outfit for the office but love how it turned out with the monocrhome green and blazer to accent the black on the shirt.

How are you styling your sheer blouses right now?

PS!  The winner of my Enterprise Car Share giveaway is Samantha Tananbaum!  Congrats lady!

Saturday Fall Shopping in SoHo

When Katie and Shelby stayed the weekend with me (yes, I realize this was a while ago) we met up with Jen and did some shopping in SoHo.  I love the SoHo area - it's always so hustly bustly but it's fun sometimes and literally every store you need is in the area.  We stopped by the LuLu Frost x J. Crew pop up shop where Katie and Shelby DIY'd necklaces with Lisa Salzar herself and then we naturally took a little break for some outfit photos.

It was a bit chilly that weekend so I opted for the light layered look.
