The Right... Fur Sweater

Confession: I'm a little late to post these pics (but what else is new lately...) - I took these with Emily when I was at home over the holidays and I practically lived in this sweater because it was freeeeezing at home.  It's become quite the regular for work and weekend too and I've definitely had my eye on various other versions - I love that the faux fur is built in and the oversized chunky knit definitely makes it super cozy.  Unfortunately though, I think (slash hope) it's a little too close to spring to pull that trigger so they'll have to wait until next year!

Friends, meet my newest handbag obsession: Dagne Dover.  You might have seen my instagram a few weeks ago but I found them on Instagram over Thanksgiving and instantly fell in love.  Serendipitously I was then invited to an event with Well Kept at the Dagne Dover pop up shop where I was able to see the bags first hand and it was love at first crossbody.  They are such good quality, beautifully built and the colors are soo good.  Oh and they have all the perfect pockets and compartments to keep everything beyond organized (the mini I'm wearing has a padded pocket for a tablet!).

I'm so excited to share this brand with you and one of my readers is going to win a mini bag in the classic color of your choice!  Trust me, it isn't that mini but I mean that in the best way possible - it's the perfect size for work or class and holds just the right amount.  Follow the instructions below and good luck!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this sweater (and the fact that it's so affordable makes me question when I'll pull the trigger and purchase in the other colors) and it was a serious staple when I was home for the holidays.  Before I left to go home, New York City had been experiencing very temperate weather so I didn't quite know what to expect when my mom told me Reno was expecting highs of 30.  50/60 degrees to 30s?  Woof.  I literally packed every sweater I own and all the long sleeve shirts possible so I could layer correctly.

I also have to admit that I think this vest was my best purchase for the cold weather season - it's so light but so warm making it the perfect layer. It was a key piece while I dealt with the cold at home!

What's been your cold weather go-to this season?

Also a little outtake for you today as I almost fell on my ass in the snow - I'm shocked I didn't break my neck falling on all the ice and snow we had.  I learned that NONE of the shoes I had with me had any traction...

The Right... Fluffy Sweater

Random SF Boutique Fluffy Sweater (similar styles linked below), H&M Blush Blouse, Old Navy Rockstar Skinny Jeans (c/o), Banana Republic Leopard Print Flats, GiGi New York Clutch (c/o)

It's always dangerous when I shop after a nice long brunch and I have to admit, I sometimes walk away with pieces I'm really not sure about later.  Two Christmas' ago, I spent a weekend in San Francisco with my best friends before heading home for the holidays and that very thing happened.  I went to my first (bottomless) gospel brunch and then we walked all over San Francisco popping in and out of stores.  In this random boutique I spotted this pink fluffy sweater/coat and knew I had to have it (or well, post-brunch me definitely thought I had to have it).  I wore it for New Year's Eve that year and then it basically sat in my closet the rest of the time because again, I just wasn't sure about it.  Earlier this year when I was going through clothes, I told myself that I had to wear this guy at least twice or it was being donated.  Sure enough, I've worn it at least twice and I anticipate a few more wears out of it before it gets too warm!  Check out a few similar options below!

The Right... Duster Coat

I'm so glad I was able to snap these pics while it was still unseasonably warm (yesterday evening it was "real feel" 10 degrees!).  I saw the duster coats all over for fall and finally broke down and added one to my wardrobe right before Thanksgiving.  I love the drape on the front but I have to admit I had a hard time styling it because it was so long and it threw me off a little!  I decided to keep everything else simple with clean lines.  Have you tried out the duster coat trend yet?  What are your thoughts on them?

There's something really refreshing about a simple winter outfit - swingy tunics, booties and faux fur just scream weekend to me.  For a while I found myself overthinking my weekend outfits but lately I've tried to keep things toned down and simple.

Shoutout to Hush Puppies for making the most comfortable booties on the planet - I really feel like I can wear these forever (including to brunch, wandering new neighborhoods, museums or wherever my weekend adventures take me)!

The Right... Slouchy Beanie

IMG_9227

IMG_9224

It's funny how I sometimes overlook the importance of basics in my wardrobe.  For example, before this winter I didn't really wear beanies much (I stuck with my fuzzy earmuffs instead) but I was browsing at Urban Outfitters one day and realized how much I needed a black slouchy beanie in my life.  So I bought one and I've worn it SO many times since.

The Right... Camo Tee

IMG_1654

IMG_1668

Happy Monday!  Have you survived the start of Daylight Savings Time?  Even though we lose an hour of sleep I'm always beyond thankful for that extra daylight at the end of the day (and it means summer is that much closer!).

Luckily we had a little break in the weather this past weekend (a whole 45 degrees!)!  I scooped up this J.Crew boys camo shirt a couple of months ago after seeing it in the catalog.  I rarely ever look past the women's pages in their monthly catalogs but this top caught my eye and I knew I had to have it.  It adds a nice bit of spunk to the wardrobe!
