The Right... Winterized Dress

IMG_1557

IMG_1532

I think one of my favorite wardrobe tricks for winter (and going on two winters in a row now) is to layer a sweater over a dress because it extends the life of your summer dresses and automatically expands your wardrobe choices.  Prime example is with this dress with the super cute cut outs on the sides.  It was absolutely necessary to layer a sweater over it to be able to wear it this winter, otherwise it'd just be hanging in my closet waiting for warmer days.  I can't wait to put this guy into heavy rotation this summer!

The Right... Matching Set

Happy Monday guys!  I'm going to keep it short and sweet today.  I had a little too much fun at Jen's birthday shindig and didn't have much left in my when it came to today's post.  Somehow these summer weekends take everything out of me - I guess that's what happens when you're having fun!

I bought these two pieces from the Phillip Lim x Target collab and have worn them separate but decided to throw them together one day and I really liked the way the look came out.  I usually like to match (at least a portion of my outfit) but I've never worn a full on suit or matching set before.  So here we are!  Have you worn a matching set?  What are your thoughts?

Top and Skirt: Phillip Lim x Target, Shoes: c/o Kohl's, Necklace: BaubleBar (old), Bag: c/o Folli Follie (similar here)

The Right... Leopard Headwrap

This was definitely one of those "it's too damn hot out to mess with my hair" looks.  It's summer in the city and I figured it was finally time to try the leopard headwrap (you know, the one I bought in March when Katherine inspired me to try the trend)!  What do you think?  How do you feel about hair/head accessories?  If you're really digging the trend you can snatch up a leopard headband at Nordstrom or there's a ton of cute options on Etsy!

The Right... Leather Peplum

I feel like a bit of a broken record here but lately I've been really pushing the envelope with my work attire (and really any outfit I've been wearing) and this leather peplum at the office was no exception.  That's the beauty of living in New York City - you can experiment all you want and never feel out of place.

I scored this leather peplum on major sale after the holidays on Piperlime and I've been looking for a good reason to style it for the office.  I think that whole not wanting to "waste an outfit" thing came into play so when I had a full day of meetings and two events I decided to pull it out and go for it.  I realize my go-to for work is to just throw a blazer on it, but I really think this is the best way to make a lot of things work.

So here it is, a simple yet chic leather peplum styled for work:

Spring Green

This last weekend was such a tease, it was unreal.  I guess it was the perfect time for a little break in the weather but this winter has got.to.go.  I got a little too excited and busted out the bright dress sans tights.  I'm really looking forward to wearing this dress more come spring!

Put a Cap on It

I'm usually not a hat person but this year I scooped up both a baseball cap and a felt hat and I have to admit, they're slowly growing on me!  I threw this on to meet up with Jen for a venture to City Bakery to check out their hot chocolate festival.  Apparently these leather leggings are my new go to for weekends because it's the second time I've busted them out in the last month.  Spoiler alert, I wore them again this past weekend. #sorryimnotsorry

Weekend Leather

Funny thing happens when it gets above 30 degrees here...  I throw on some light layers and pretend it's spring.  Wishful thinking I guess but I definitely can't wait to be running around in outfits similar to this!  Hopefully soon....!

North v. South Style: Lace

Welcome to our last installment of North v. South style for the fall/winter trends!  Today we're all showing you how to style your lace pieces for fall.  I chose a new lace dress and a light jacket (because oddly enough it was close to 50 degrees last weekend) to keep things casual.

Also, really exciting news - we've teamed up with Lisi Lerch to giveaway a pair of the Margo earrings!  The contest is open until next Friday - good luck!

Jacket: Old Navy (similar here and here), Dress: c/o Ivy & Blu (on sale here!), Tights: Uniqlo, Shoes: c/o Dr. Scholl's, Bag: Phillip Lim for Target, Necklace: Etsy, Earrings: c/o Lisi Lerch

Fancy Tourist

Happy Monday!!  I can't even tell you how great of a weekend I had - I hosted Katie and Shelby at my apartment and we had the best time venturing around the city and just relaxing and doing the "local" thing.  I love when friends come and want to do the local thing because I feel like it gives me the ability to show off reasons why I love this city.  And they are just the sweetest girls.

I met a couple of other bloggers that were in town for Lucky FABB and we all had such a blast.  Stay tuned for more on our adventures and also exciting news involving Katie & Shelby over the next couple of weeks!!

If you saw my post on Friday you know we toured around St. Louis during our trip and I wanted to share my touristy outfit with you.  I took it up a notch with the embellished sweater but couldn't have been comfier running around the city in this outfit.
