The Right... Matching Set

Happy Monday guys!  I'm going to keep it short and sweet today.  I had a little too much fun at Jen's birthday shindig and didn't have much left in my when it came to today's post.  Somehow these summer weekends take everything out of me - I guess that's what happens when you're having fun!

I bought these two pieces from the Phillip Lim x Target collab and have worn them separate but decided to throw them together one day and I really liked the way the look came out.  I usually like to match (at least a portion of my outfit) but I've never worn a full on suit or matching set before.  So here we are!  Have you worn a matching set?  What are your thoughts?

The Right... Camo and Lace Combo

Happy Monday friends!!  I hope you all had an amazing Fourth of July weekend!  I had a blast at the lake house and will have a lot of great pics coming your way soon.  In the meantime, I'm currently dealing with a very serious vacation hangover so today is going to be a bit short and sweet!

Window Shopping Wednesday: Birthday Edition

My birthday is right around the corner so I thought it only appropriate to do this week's Window Shopping Wednesday with some wishlist picks.  I think I've finally reached the age where when my mother asks me what I want for my birthday I groan a little.  Not htat I don't like presents, I just don't love putting together wishlists as much as I did when I was "younger" (I know, I know, I'm only turning 26, I'm not that old).  I've just definitely reached an age where if I want something, I'll just go buy it.

So this year I decided to keep my birthday wishlist fairly simple: mostly sweaters and jewelry.  Too appropriate for this time of year!

Camo Neutrals

Happy Monday!  While I sort through all the St. Louis Fashion Week photos and posts I'm bringing you a quick outfit post to celebrate the fall weather.  I can't get enough of this camo jacket and am so glad I picked it up.  It's ridiculously affordable and really cute and pairs really well with a lot of  things.

Check out this new GiGi clutch - it's their new pebbled leather and its just amazing. Also, I've seen the real life version of the tote and it's just fab.

Two Year Blogiversary

Yesterday The Right Shoes turned two years old.  It's crazy to think how fast time flies and how much things have changed since I started this little guy.  It all started as a creative outlet and has turned into an opportunity to work with brands, develop my social media/design skills and has led me to meet some amazing women.  I honestly don't know what I'd do in this city if it hadn't been for my blog.  I don't think I'd have any friends (that might be an exaggeration but it wouldn't be the same).  I've met one of my best friends and it's really helped me hone in on my personal style.  I'm definitely still working on the personal style but that's part of the fun of it!

I remember two years ago when I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new point & shoot camera so I could finally start taking outfit photos.  I've gone from the tripod in the backyard to scouting locations and shooting with Jen on the streets of New York City on the weekends.

I couldn't do this without your support and I thank you for your kind comments and continued readership.  Thanks for stopping by and here's to many more years to come!

And with that, here's another NYFW outfit :)

September Transition Style: Transitioning for Cooler Weather with Southern Shopaholic

I'm so honored to be guest posting today for Tracy! She's truly one of a kind and I don't know where I'd be without her in the city. So thanks again, girl! Today's post is about what to wear in the awkward weather we're having. I mean, this time last year there was a major snow storm that left me stranded in the city. And right now it's still pretty darn warm out. I think the weather is confused, but I'm not complaining. Although... my boots are begging me to wear them and my scarfs stare me down every time I walk by.

So what exactly do you wear in weather like this? I usually go for something breezy and light weight, but at the same time bright and warm weather appropriate (hence the white pants and sandals). If you follow my blog, you'll know I'm very against the no white after labor day. I mean, I have a strict relationship with these pants, and I will wear them when I want! Check it out:

Green Gemmed Scuba

Happy Monday!!  Back to my summer uniform for work today.  A simple dress paired with a statement necklace.  This combo has proven to be no-fail when it's really hot outside and when I'm running late for work (I'm really never late to anything...).  I also really love the pop of color with this dress and the "scuba" fabric is really fun!  Thank you Nordstrom Rack for the steal.

Neon in the Park

Happy Monday!  Can I tell you how tough it is to come back to work after a week vacation?!  Pretty tough!  And I'm pretty exhausted too.  Not only was I home for a week visting people but I brought the little brother back to the big city with me for a visit.  Call me a pro tour guide at this point!  We did everything from the WTC memorial to the Top of the Rock to all the parks to the Brooklyn Bridge and ate at some of my favorite places!  It's been great having him here (it's a bit of culture shock for him as well!).

Anyway, Jen and I shot these the other week and I have to admit, aside from the dress + statement necklace combo, the blouse + skirt combo is my next go-to work outfit for this heat wave we've been dealing with.  Some days I really wish I could just roll up in shorts and a tank...

Raspberry Lemonade

This GiGi New York clutch is so perfect for summer time - the bright color is a great addition to any colorful (or basic) outfit.  It inspired me to bring you a punchy color combo in the spirit of the warm hot weather we've had lately!  And the monogram?  I'm kind of obsessed.

Speaking of - a raspberry lemonade sure does sound good right now...

*Editor's note: it was about 90 degrees and 75% humidity when Jen and I shot these photos...  Gave me a little taste of summer and I thought I was going to melt outside.  This Nevada/dry heat girl has a lot of work to do to adjust to the East coast humidity!

How To Wear: Springtime Leather

Could it be?  Is it really Friday?  Did I survive another week?  I remember hearing at one point in my working time here in NYC that "June is a pretty slow month."  Ha.  That's the funniest joke I've heard in a while!  So far June has been cray (and we are on what, day 7?) - I just keep reminding myself I need to make it to the Fourth of July week and then [hopefully] I'll be able to catch my breath a little!  Who knows though.

Anyway, on to more important things - springtime leather!  If you tuned in Wednesday you saw some of my favorite leather pieces for spring (well, now almost summer..).  I'm so in love with the light color of this jacket - I think it'll be in heavy rotation!
