The Right... Pieces That Move Me

Following up to my quick life updated on Monday, I am so excited to share details on my next travel adventure: I'll be spending 9 days in France in April.  If you've been following me long enough, you know I went to Paris, Florence and Milan a little over two years ago.  I'm so excited to go back to France, I can hardly contain myself.  I'll be spending a few days in Paris, running the Paris Marathon and exploring a few things I didn't see the first time, and then heading to the South of France (Nice, specifically) for the remainder of the week. I'm using Nice as my base for the week and plan to adventure around so if you have any suggestions (things to see/do, places I must eat at, etc.) send them my way!

In true Tracy fashion, I've been working on my packing list for quite some time now.  My goal is to travel as light as possible (which will be a little tough considering I need to pack all my marathon gear!) so I can do some shopping while I'm there.  I did some pretty light shopping buying souvenirs last time I was in Europe but my goal this time is to actually spend some money on myself.  I also want to travel as light as possible because I've gotten quite used to only packing a carry on (even for trips home in the winter!).  I fly standby a lot and carrying on is really the only way to go.

My travel outfit lists usually include versatile pieces that I can dress up or down or mix and match to get the most wear without having to pack different outfits for every single day.  I was so excited when Banana Republic asked me to participate in their "What Moves Us" campaign.  I'd say two of the biggest things that move me include versatile wardrobe pieces and experiencing new things by traveling to new places.

Versatile wardrobe pieces, like this amazing shirt dress, are great for traveling and also great to take from desk (with a blazer and heels) to weekend (with a scarf and flats).  It'll definitely be making it into my suit case.  And I can't forget about these ballet flats because I know they'll be super necessary while I run around France for the week.

The Right... Spring Chinos

There's something about the South that just makes my heart so happy. I haven't spent a crazy amount of time down there but the times I've visited I've fallen completely in love.  Maybe it's the easier way of life, the insanely nice people who live there (seriously everyone is so genuinely nice!) or the food.  I recently went down to Atlanta, GA and Auburn, AL to visit friends and attend a wedding.  It was my first solo domestic trip and it was awesome.  I caught up with Tiffany at the cutest coffee shop in Buckhead (although my flight was delayed so our time was cut short and let me tell you, we could have talked for hours!), I got to see one of my sorority sisters and her husband and their amazing Alpharetta home (I swooned over every detail and was also completely overcome with joy at all of their accomplishments) and went on a little bit of a road trip to Auburn to watch my little {sorority} sister get married to her best friend at the most beautiful Baptist church.  Oh and I ate my weight in biscuits, gravy and grits and wasn't mad about it one bit.

Club Monaco Peplum Cami (on major sale), J. Crew Cargo Chinos, Hush Puppies Molly Malia Sandals (c/o), 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli
This was my travel outfit for the first day of the trip. Two things about this outfit: I haven't owned a pair of chinos in years and it's amazing how if you stalk something (this top) long enough, you can get it for a pretty good price.  I bought these chinos last fall when I started adding more basics into my wardrobe and they're perfect for the rare casual Friday at work and weekend adventures.  And this top.  Well, we have a bit of a history.  I actually purchased it last December for a holiday party and when I didn't end up wearing it, I returned it because it was a little more than I wanted to spend on it at the time.  Fast forward to randomly clicking over to the Club Monaco website last month and it was on further sale so I bought it without thinking twice.  Oh and these shoes?  They are the perfect addition to my wardrobe for warmer months and ridiculously comfortable.  I highly suggest you pick up a pair (or enter Hush Puppies' giveaway because they're giving away a pair of shoes a day in April!).

The Right... Europe Outfit

IMG_0261

IMG_0244

While I was in Europe I did a really good job of packing everything in a carry on and taking pieces I could easily mix and match.  Not gonna lie though, I was a little tired of what I had to wear but after 9 days who would be?!  These boots and turtleneck were on heavy repeat (it was also a little chilly some days so layering was key).  I was lucky enough to be able to meet up with Taylor for lunch (at the most amazing sandwich place ever) and she snapped my only outfit pics of my whole trip.

Stripes on Stripes for Travel

I took the quickest trip ever to the west coast a couple of weeks ago for a weekend in wine country with my [sorority] sisters and I have to say I did a stellar job packing.  I'll share all those details with you in an upcoming post but for now here's a glimpse of one of my travel outfits.

Travel Attire

Happy Monday!  I spent the last weekend traveling to Atlanta with Jess for a media event with Buick.  She was part of a blogger competition for the new Encore.  I'll have the full post on Wednesday but in the meantime here is what I wore for traveling on the plane!  I like to keep it comfy when traveling but I don't like to go as far as wearing sweats or tennis shoes.  Gotta keep it at little fashionable, right?  In comes the easy black ponte pants, flats and a scarf for a little added detail.  All these elements keep you comfy, looking stylish but not giving you a major headache going through security.  What is your favorite thing to wear while traveling?
