In My Bag: Travel Edition

I'm still prepping all my St. Louis Fashion Week posts so in the meantime I thought I'd do a "what's in my bag" post.  When I travel I make sure I have the basics I carry around on the daily and also add some travel essentials: snacks, reading material and a blanket in case the plane is cold.  I know, you're probably thinking I'm crazy for toting around a blanket in my bag but hear me out on this one.  I randomly kept the blanket from a past United flight and discovered it folds down pretty compactly making it perfect for those times it's a little too chilly on the plane.

Other daily essentials I tote around: business cards, lip stain, lip balm, sunglasses and wallet.  Throw in a bottle of water and you're all ready to jet set.

Bag: c/o Folli Follie, Wallet: C.Wonder, Sunglasses: Tory Burch, Lipstick: MAC, Lip Stain: Sephora

What do you keep in your bag when you travel?  Anything I'm missing?

Cheers to 2013

Above are some of my "resolutions" for the New Year.  I'm not a huge "wait til the new year for resolutions" type of person.  I strongly feel that if you need a change or want to make new goals for yourself you can and should do it anytime.  Prime example: I uprooted my life last year to move to NYC.  With that being said though it is fun to make some resolutions at the start of each year!  Above are mine.  They are pretty simple/straightforward:

I've always wanted to take ballet classes and there are plenty of place in NYC to learn the art!

Get a passport and use it!
I really wanted to go to New Zealand to visit Kyle and be there to ring in the New Year but when I was looking at a $2,500 round trip plane ticket I had to re-evaluate.  2013 will be the year I get a passport and use it - even if it's just for a weekend in Montreal.  Although I've heard London and Paris are just a hop skip and jump over the pond from NYC :).

Send handwritten birthday cards to loved ones.
It's easy to get lost in the technological world we live in and being so far away from most of my favorite people I want to send cards for everyone's birthdays.

Cross some items off my East Coast Bucket List.
I've been curating a bucket list of things to do while I live on the East Coast.  They consist of some things such as visiting Boston, Washington DC, Maine, etc.

Dress for myself and not others.
This one seems pretty easy, however it can be really easy to let others influence your decisions, and especially your styling decisions.  I think I'm slowly finding myself and my sense of style and I want to really start letting it shine.  I also came across a great quote one day that supports all of this: "In the end, people will judge you anyway.  Don't live your life impressing others.  Life your life impressing yourself."  I've been working to make this my philosophy because it's so true in so many facets of life.

I hope you grab 2013 and run with it!  I can't wait to see what it brings us all - it's party time!

Blogger to Tumblr to Blogger

So I think I've finally figured out which blogging platform I want to use. I used to have a Blogspot blog but I literally wrote novels and only my friends followed me. Then I went to Tumblr back in March and it was a little more user friendly but I found myself constantly reblogging things from other people. Which is great but I realized that's what everyone and their brother is doing on Tumblr as well. So that brings me back to Blogspot.

I've also finally figured out what I want to do with my blog. I want it to be a source of inspiration and full of things I love - fashion, food, traveling, interior design, and fitness. So, here goes, again.

Oh and to give a little bit of background on the title of my blog? It comes from the quote by Marilyn Monroe, "Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world."

So with that said, here goes!
