Flowers in the Park

Happy Friday!  So excited for the long weekend!  I have no plans and it feels amazing!  I'm feeling the urge to make a quick day trip out of the city, but who knows where I'll end up!  I'm sure you'll see if you follow my Instagram or Twitter :).  If not, I'll be exploring more of this glorious city!

 

Following up to Wednesday's post, I'm styling my nude pumps today!  I actually took these photos a couple of weeks ago with Jen in Washington Square Park.  It was such a lovely morning!  I have to say this was also the first time I really stuck myself directly in the midst of a busy public place to take these photos.  A little scary at first but the people watching and some of looks we got made it all worth it.

TGIF/Liebster Award!

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a great week!  I'm taking a break from all the outfit/shopping inspo today and helping you get a little more acquainted with me!
 

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that over a week ago (I know, I realize that was a while ago but I've been ridiculously busy!) that I had been nominated for a Liebster Award by Tania of The Blogolista!  The Liebster Blog award is for up and coming bloggers and is sort of a chain mail for bloggers.  First I'll give you some random facts about me and then answer some questions (below the pictures)!  And the girls I'm nominating are at the very bottom of the post.  I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little better!

From the top, left to right: I've run two half and two full marathons, I was a TriDelta in college, I have a weakness for chocolate, I once won money gambling and bought Louis, I have an obsession with water towers (and old barns), I like to be a cowgirl sometimes, I've been chukar hunting (and actually got a bird) and I really like picons, whiskey and wine

 

What is your favorite thing about being a blogger?

At first I loved blogging because it was a creative outlet in my "not always fashion savvy" world in my hometown, but now it's really about the sense of community and being surrounded by people who share common interests with me (and of course hoping to inspire people!). 

What is your ultimate goal as a blogger?

Experiences.  I really hope blogging can give me some experiences with people, brands, the world, that I wouldn't have found if I didn't start blogging.
 

If you could collaborate with one brand, which would it be?

This is such a tough question! It's a major toss-up between J.Crew, DVF, Rachel Zoe and Michael Kors.
 

Favorite designer?

Really tough question again.  Lately I've been loving everything Vince; I love J.Crew, DVF and Rachel Zoe (of course); and Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Tadashi Shoji and BCBG.
 

The most awesome thing in your closet is…

My vintage real leather pencil skirt. I need to get it tailored but I am obsessed with it.  It made an appearance here.

Favorite blogger?

I have the biggest girl crush on Blair from Atlantic-Pacific.  And I also absolutely adore Krystal of This Time Tomorrow (she is my ultimate inspiration for my blog and a little secret, we went to high school together :) ). 
 

Favorite season and why?

Fall!!!  I love the numerous ways you can transform your spring/summer wardrobe into fall and I love the changing of the leaves.  I think it's a magical time of year because you start to anticipate all the excitement of the holiday festivities!
 

Favorite place to shop?

I do a lot of online shopping (love Nordstrom online), J.Crew, Gap, LOFT, Zara, C.Wonder and many others. 

If you could meet any celebrity, who would it be and why?

Jennifer Aniston.  I grew up loving her in Friends and all the movies she has starred in and I think she is absolutely gorgeous.

When you grew up, you wanted to be…

Anything from a fashion designer to a doctor to an architect.
 

What are your plans for next year? (traveling, blogging, etc.)

Let's see....  I'd love to get a "real" job here in NYC, travel the East Coast (I am dying to go to Connecticut, Maine, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C.), hopefully get back into marathon running and maybe finally go to Europe.

TGIF/Monochromatic Green

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a lovely week!  I've got a busy weekend working and gearing up for the Thanksgiving weekend!  My best friend is coming into town to visit (because it's also my birthday!) and we will be spending turkey day at a friend's family's house!  What do you have planned for this weekend?

Still sporting my favorite hunter jeans, last week I decided to add a minty touch to my outfit.  I really love the way this color combo turned out!  I think mint is one of the best greens to pair with hunter because I don't see olive, kelly or lime pairing well.  But who knows!  I'll have to try and see how they look (and of course I'll let you know)!

TGIF/Casual Friday Drinks

First of all: Happy November!  I can't believe it's almost the end of 2012.  So crazy.  November is my birthday month (it falls exactly on Thanksgiving day this year!), so it's always a really exciting time of year!

A couple weeks ago my friend Jenny won a happy hour at a local bar (seriously one of the best prizes ever - I won the same thing a week later!) so I joined her and a couple of her friends.  I know the bar is a little more casual than others so I opted for this look: simple black silk blouse + boyfriend jeans + heels.  Doesn't get much better and easier than this!  What do you like to wear for a casual night out?

Can we talk about these shoes for a minute?  They are awesome.  I absolutely LOVE the Valentino's but while I'm on my "just moved to New York, still loooking for a good paying job and ballin on a budget" status I obviously can't afford the real thing.  Thanks to Ashley of Ashley in DC's post earlier this month I snagged a pair of the Shoedazzle look alikes (for under $35 mind you)!

Happy Friday!!  One more week left at the job...  So crazy.  And still so much to do!!

Go to an Aces game

Have the bf take me shooting one more time (I think it'll be a while before this happens again)

Spend time at Donner Lake/run the lake

Take Kyle to Nik-n-Willie's Pizza (I worked there in high school and haven't had it in almost 4 years!!)

Eat at Garwoods and get a Wet Woody

Go to an Artown Event

Night in the Country/one more concert (unfortunately, I don't think this is going to happen)

Get a Pedi at Soak and get one of their signature cocktails

Visit San Francisco one more time

Eat at the new cafe at the Nevada Museum of Art

I thought I had made a lot more progress that this....  I think I just need to work a little harder!

TGIF/4-Week Bucket List

Happy Friday!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful week! 

Time is slowly slipping away from me between all the job applications, meet-ups with friends and finishing out my current position.  It's stressing me a out a little...  Oh and do you know how expensive it is to move across the country?  Well, I'm slowly finding out.  I can tell you the smallest POD is $4,200, a 10-foot U-Haul is $1,900 (not to mention gas and time to drive 3,000 miles) and I think boxes are approximately $70 each to ship.  So basically what my life has boiled down to is that I have to start seriously going through everything and getting rid of so.much.stuff.  Like (almost) 25 years worth of living-in-the-same-city stuff.  Whoa.

And since I've only got 4 weeks left in my little city, I decided to make a bucket list!  Here goes!

• Get Nachos at Silver Peak

TGIF/Whirlwind!

What a whirlwind of a week!  As you may or may not have seen in this post, on Monday I put in my 4 week notice at my job of 2 years to move to New York City!  Since then it's been feeling even more and more real!  I have so much to do though.  It's a little overwhelming...  That aside, how was your week?

I posted my SugarLips look yesterday (still pinching myself for actually getting a chance to be part of their blogger partnership!) and this afternoon I've got a doctors appointment then it's off to San Francisco for the weekend!  I'm doing the Color Run with a couple of my girlfriends!  Should be a blast!

Btw, I have been feeling really unorganized lately because this is the second doctors appointment in the last couple of months that has crept up on me and I only found out about it because of the reminder call from the doc (I thought it was next Friday!).  Ugh.  I think I need to get a May Books planner to keep my life straight.  I used to be the type of person that absolutely died without her planner, then I graduated college and thought I could just rely on my phone but I think I'm back to needing a planner.  Oh well, at least these make it fun!  P.S. Thank you to Lili of Swanky Chic Fete for turning me on to these on Instagram.

TGIF/Bringing it Back!

Happy Friday Friends!  What are you up to this weekend?  I'll be running a fundraising event for work tomorrow and hanging out with family on Sunday.  Btw, who's excited for the Fourth??!  I know I am!  I'm even more excited because I get to go to Montana for a couple of days with the BF to stay with some friends.  So excited!

Anyway, last week I hinted at a trend I'd like to bring back.  A trend that will greatly expand the versatility of your dresses!  Let's bring back the shirt-tied-up-over-a-dress look!  I know, I might be crazy, but during #StyleMeMarch we were challenged to "layer over or under a dress" so I wore this:

TGIF/Relief in Sight!

Happy Friday!!  I hope you all have had a wonderful week!

Mine has been pretty busy topped with a lot of sleepiness!!  I'm taking a night off from volunteering tonight to actually watch the Rodeo and I'm really looking forward to it.  It's Patriot night too so it's fun seeing everyone in red, white and blue!  Then one more day of volunteering and then hopefully getting some R&R in!

This outfit is great for casual Friday because you have the business-y pencil skirt with the relaxed but structured chambray top paired with an easy sandal.  Well this is great if I'm just at the office all day and then having drinks with friends after work.  However...  If I have to go to a business networking event after work (which I just so happen to be doing after work today), I would switch out the chambray top with a sheer top and throw on some heels.

TGIF/Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Friday!  I don't know about you but I'm really excited to have a long weekend and have not too much planned! 

I started the week off by buying myself some gorgeous peonies for my office.  I think I'm going to start buying fresh flowers for my office every week - it definitely improved my attitude!

I lusted after this dress all week (so much that I put it in my Memorial Day brunch post yesterday!) and I'm really hoping I can find it on sale this weekend!

What are your plans for this weekend?  I'm grabbing drinks with a friend, hopefully hosting a BBQ and just relaxing in general.  Also, one of my best friends will be home from SF so there will be ample visiting time!  The weather is not supposed to be that great so maybe I'll get my gallery wall done and some other projects wrapped up!

TGIF/Weekend Ready!

I am so ready for this weekend!  Lots of things happening!  It was one of those weeks where I thought it was Thursday but realized it was only Wednesday.  Darn humpday. 

Anyway, I'm gearing up for quite the busy weekend.  Little's (sorority sister that is) graduation party tonight, Boyfriend/Boyfriend's Cousin/Little's graduation tomorrow, Boyfriend's Grandfather's Hall of Fame induction dinner tomorrow night and then seeing a play with the Grandma (it's our bi-yearly tradition!) on Sunday.  Whew.  I'm feeling tired already!  I've been channeling the look of this skirt and want to find something like it to hopefully wear to one of these occasions this weekend (I checked out the thrift stores around town last night and came up with something close, but not with sequins):

 How amaze is this skirt?  I love the sequin look and I have a dark gray sequin top but that doesn't translate too well to Spring/Summer.

TGIF/Week In Review

This week went by way too fast!  Usually I'm complaining because it was a long week but this week flew by.  Not really a good thing though because I didn't get nearly as caught up at work as I would have liked!  Oh well, time for the weekend!

You may or may not have noticed the blog got a new background this week!  I'm working on finalizing branding stuff so I can wrap up my media kit and get real business cards made (I had to do makeshift business cards back in Feb. because I realized I couldn't go to Blogger's Night Out without business cards - that would have just been silly!)! 
Exciting stuff!  (Btw, background compliments of Kinzie's Kreations, check out her blog!)

I recieved an e-mail yesterday letting me know I officially made it into this year's Nike Women's Marathon!  That's three years in a row!  I'm only doing the half this year though.
Check out some of last year's marathon here :).

Also, I had orientation for Kaia FIT which starts on Monday.  Lucky me I chose to start it off with their BRIK session (6 week, intensive exercies/dieting/detoxing) so I'll have to keep you posted on how that goes!

Plans for the weekend?  We are doing dinner with friends tonight, I'm catching up on the blog tomorrow (yes, I realize I only had one post this week and I still have to show you all my outfits/adventures!), date night tomorrow night (sushi and a movie!) and then Sunday I hope to get a run in/relax with the fam/prep for Kaia!
