Bryant Park Maxi

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  Mine consisted of a Friday dinner with friends (Jessica, Rose and Kjersten) at an amazing Italian restaurant, Da Andrea, near Union Square.  I seriously wanted to order everything off the menu.  I had artichoke, bacon risotto - it was to die!  I know there are other amazing restaurants in NYC but would it be a crime if this becomes my go-to?  Maybe...  Then Saturday I ventured to Poughkeepsie (a full post will come later, promise!) and Sunday I did a little DIY project (you probably saw a hint on Instagram) and worked at Anthro.  Good stuff, I know ;).

Anyway, last Monday I grabbed lunch and did a little photo sesh with Rose at Bryant Park.  Her and I work in the same building the days I'm at the Lily Kate Showroom (so random - of all the buildings in NYC!).  And here's what I wore (pardon the hair, it got a little crazy apparently!)!

Weekend Project!

Looking for a great weekend project?!  Well I've got one for you.  Have you heard of Netrobe?  It's an iPhone app you download, upload pictures of every item in your closet and it allows you to basically shop your closet.  I heard about Netrobe at the IFB Conference back in September but didn't do anything about it until a week ago.  I decided to put myself on a little spending freeze (aside from the two more winter wardrobe essentials I need: wool coat and tall black flat boots) until I start really getting income from my jobs.  I had a little stress out a couple weeks ago because of how much of my savings I've used during this move so the first thing that had to go: shopping.

I digress...  Back to the main subject of this post - Netrobe.  Not only can you "shop" your own closet by compiling looks from the clothes you own, you can also schedule outfits for upcoming events, pack your "suitcase" for an upcoming trip, and you can also post outfit inspiration photos to an inspo board.  I started uploading photos to it last weekend and plan to continue this weekend (as I unpack all my boxes from home that finally arrived!).  It definitely takes some time to organize and upload but I think once it's done I will be a very happy camper!

Let me know if you try this out!

*Disclaimer: I was not compensated by Netrobe for this post, it is based strictly on my own views/opinions/experiences.  All photos are my own.*

{In} Vested

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all have wonderful plans for the weekend!  I'll be attending a fundraiser for Breast Cancer this evening, working tomorrow and otherwise enjoying the fall weather and friends!  Before I leave you, here is an outfit I wore earlier this week!  I am still trying to get used to the look of these booties on me but I'm otherwise obsessed with the texture and design!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was pretty quiet compared to the week before it (spent apartment hunting... More on that later).  Just the standard coffee run on Saturday morning followed by sandwiches in the park and a little shopping.  Sunday I met with Jessica of Bows & Sequins for a little lunch date and some outfit photos (you'll have to wait til tomorrow for the full post!) and spent the afternoon trying to figure out how I'm going to get my own domain and possibly make the Blogger to Wordpress  switch as well as get business cards ordered/delivered by the 3rd.  The IFB conference (read: my first blogging conference) is that day and I have to be prepped, polished and ready to meet people!  Let me know if I've exhausted you yet because I'm sure tired.  Oh and I am going to do this all while working on more job applications (trust me, I'll know I'll be busy).

Here's a couple of Instagram shots from the weekend just in case you don't follow me already (@rightshoesblog):

TGIF/4-Week Bucket List

Happy Friday!!!  I hope you all had a wonderful week!

Time is slowly slipping away from me between all the job applications, meet-ups with friends and finishing out my current position.  It's stressing me a out a little...  Oh and do you know how expensive it is to move across the country?  Well, I'm slowly finding out.  I can tell you the smallest POD is $4,200, a 10-foot U-Haul is $1,900 (not to mention gas and time to drive 3,000 miles) and I think boxes are approximately $70 each to ship.  So basically what my life has boiled down to is that I have to start seriously going through everything and getting rid of so.much.stuff.  Like (almost) 25 years worth of living-in-the-same-city stuff.  Whoa.

And since I've only got 4 weeks left in my little city, I decided to make a bucket list!  Here goes!
  • Get Nachos at Silver Peak
  • Take mom & brother to Louis Basque Corner
  • Go to an Aces game
  • Have the bf take me shooting one more time (I think it'll be a while before this happens again)
  • Spend time at Donner Lake/run the lake
  • Float the Truckee River
  • Take Kyle to Nik-n-Willie's Pizza (I worked there in high school and haven't had it in almost 4 years!!)
  • Eat at Garwoods and get a Wet Woody
  • Go to an Artown Event
  • Night in the Country/one more concert
  • Get a Pedi at Soak and get one of their signature cocktails
  • Visit San Francisco one more time
  • Eat at the new cafe at the Nevada Museum of Art

I'll keep you posted on how this goes!!  Have a great weekend!

Adventures in San Francisco

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  Mine was so much fun!  I didn't get home until really late Sunday though, hence the reason why this is so late.

My trip to San Francisco was so much fun and it was so great to spend time with my friends before I move across the country.  We did the Color Run on Saturday morning, ate at Stacks for brunch (we definitely got the bacon waffle for an appetizer), went to La Boulange and I had my first macaroons ever (I know, I know.  I'm really late to the game!), shopped in the Marina, had dinner with friends from home that have moved to SF at Delfina's, Sunday we lounged and went to coffee at Philz and lunch at Brenda's.  Note on Brenda's: I am still thinking about how good this food was.  If you like French/Southern Soul Food this is an absolute must if you visit the city.  The crawfish beignets and pulled pork eggs benedict were to.die.for.

Here's the weekend in pictures:

The bottom right is the view from my friend's apartment in the marina.  There's a bridge somewhere in that fog!!

TGIF/Whirlwind!

What a whirlwind of a week!  As you may or may not have seen in this post, on Monday I put in my 4 week notice at my job of 2 years to move to New York City!  Since then it's been feeling even more and more real!  I have so much to do though.  It's a little overwhelming...  That aside, how was your week?

I posted my SugarLips look yesterday (still pinching myself for actually getting a chance to be part of their blogger partnership!) and this afternoon I've got a doctors appointment then it's off to San Francisco for the weekend!  I'm doing the Color Run with a couple of my girlfriends!  Should be a blast!

Btw, I have been feeling really unorganized lately because this is the second doctors appointment in the last couple of months that has crept up on me and I only found out about it because of the reminder call from the doc (I thought it was next Friday!).  Ugh.  I think I need to get a May Books planner to keep my life straight.  I used to be the type of person that absolutely died without her planner, then I graduated college and thought I could just rely on my phone but I think I'm back to needing a planner.  Oh well, at least these make it fun!  P.S. Thank you to Lili of Swanky Chic Fete for turning me on to these on Instagram.
Anywho, hope you all have a lovely weekend!

I'll post weekend updates next week but in the meantime follow me on Instagram!!

TGIF/Relief in Sight!

Happy Friday!!  I hope you all have had a wonderful week!

Mine has been pretty busy topped with a lot of sleepiness!!  I'm taking a night off from volunteering tonight to actually watch the Rodeo and I'm really looking forward to it.  It's Patriot night too so it's fun seeing everyone in red, white and blue!  Then one more day of volunteering and then hopefully getting some R&R in!

Look for a blog post this coming week on a trend I feel should come back (hint: it's a little retro and it will double the versatility of all your dresses!).  I've already worn it twice this week!

What are you up to this weekend?!  Would love to hear your plans!

TGIF!

Happy weekend!  What are you up to this weekend?  Personally, I'd love to sleep in, go to the lake or the beach and sip on some cocktails...

The Military Jacket

Wore this casual shift dress/military jacket combo yesterday.  I posted on my Instagram a while ago that I had practiced quality over quantity with this jacket (instead of going with Forever I went with a jacket from Michael Kors).  It's a little large in the sleeves but I love it (and I wear them rolled up all the time so it doesn't matter that much!).

Jacket: Michael Kors (similar here and here), Dress: J.Crew, Belt & Bracelet: Forever 21, Sandals: Target

How was your weekend?  I had a pretty busy weekend with some friends and my boyfriend graduating, a dinner honoring my boyfriend's grandfather, celebrating graduation and attending a musical/dinner with my grandmother and brother.  It was a great weekend!

TGIF/Weekend Ready!

I am so ready for this weekend!  Lots of things happening!  It was one of those weeks where I thought it was Thursday but realized it was only Wednesday.  Darn humpday.

Anyway, I'm gearing up for quite the busy weekend.  Little's (sorority sister that is) graduation party tonight, Boyfriend/Boyfriend's Cousin/Little's graduation tomorrow, Boyfriend's Grandfather's Hall of Fame induction dinner tomorrow night and then seeing a play with the Grandma (it's our bi-yearly tradition!) on Sunday.  Whew.  I'm feeling tired already!  I've been channeling the look of this skirt and want to find something like it to hopefully wear to one of these occasions this weekend (I checked out the thrift stores around town last night and came up with something close, but not with sequins):

Via
How amaze is this skirt?  I love the sequin look and I have a dark gray sequin top but that doesn't translate too well to Spring/Summer.

Also, I wanted to do a recap of some of my favorite #StyleMeMay looks from Instagram!  Hilary did such a good job of putting together this style challenge and I have to say I've found a lot of great bloggers/people to follow!  Check them out:

TGIF/Week In Review

I hope you all have had a wonderful week!  Mine was spent just working, detoxing, and getting used to waking up at 5:30 every morning for Kaia.  The waking up part wasn't bad it was the fighting the urge to nap every day that was tough (part of the detox = no caffeine or sugar so coffee was out)!

I started participating in #StyleMeMay.  If you're not participating join in!  Here are some of my outfits (in case you don't follow me on Instagram - @RightShoesBlog):

"Makes you want to twirl"

"Bright, happy color"

"Jazzed up hands"

"Always gets complimented"

I'm waiting on this lovely Kate Spade case to arrive for my iPhone.  I finally broke down and bought it (I've only been eyeing it since December...).

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Helloooo Weekend!

This has probably been one of the longest/worst weeks I've had in a while.  My plans?  Veg completely.  I do have a friends b-day/St. Patty's Day party tomorrow and the Blake Shelton concert on Sunday evening but otherwise, I'm not going to feel bad about plopping down on the couch with a cup of coffee and doing some serious blog/sleep/relaxing catch up.  I wish I could finish a DIY I started a couple of weeks ago but the weather is supposed to be bad and it requires spray painting outside...

What do you have planned?  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Polka Dot[ed] Friday

Hello world!

I feel like it's been forever since I blogged last!  Oh wait, it has.

My vacations/NYC proved very difficult to get any posts done and catching up at work has been dreadfully time consuming.  This is my quick outfit post for you until my NYC trip recaps come this weekend/next week (I've got about four coming your way)!  I've got a lot of work to do on the blog and I've been brainstorming ways to make it even better for you all.

Enjoy the dots!  Oh and this necklace?  Absolutely loving.  It's the perfect statement piece for dressy and casual - double win.  Oh and just a heads up, I'm still trying to figure out how to work with these bangs (all I can think about since getting them cut is this)...

Sweater: Forever 21, Blouse: Old Navy, Pants: Vera by Vera Wang, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Jewelry: J. Crew, Juicy Couture, Gifted, Forever 21

Have a fantastic weekend!

Weekend Fun

The weekend kicked off with dinner at Napa Sonoma , a wine store/restaurant with all the girls

And ended with something I've been trying to find the time to do for a while. I went over to Junkee Clothing Exchange to look around. I don't normally go to thrift stores but I've had this itch to go for weeks. Today was the perfect blustery day too!

It's such a great store with pretty trendy clothes and a TON of antiques. It's definitely a place you need to make time for. Here are some pictures of my favorite areas of the store:

I also managed to find two skirts and a gold chain bracelet, which I'll post on later.

How did you spend your weekend?
