The Right... Black Jumpsuit

I have been on the hunt for the "perfect 'little' black jumpsuit" for quite some time now.  A bit ago I ordered what I thought was the perfect LBJ from ASOS on super sale but was sadly disappointed when it was not what I thought I was getting.  Then, I saw the sneak peak of the Peter Som for Kohl's collection and knew I had found it!  I think I've already worn it to the office at least three times...  #sorryimnotsorry but it'll be in heavy rotation for a long time.  This outfit was my more casual version of the jumpsuit for a Friday at the office.

How would you dress an LBJ down?

The Right... Brunch Combo

Weekend brunches have easily become one of my favorite activities here in the city.  There are endless options and it doesn't help when you throw a little bloody mary or mimosa in the mix ;).

I went for a little dot on dot combo with a pop of pink for brunch with Krista at Prune.  What's your favorite thing to wear to brunch?

Window Shopping Wednesday: Transition Pieces

I realize I may be jumping a bit ahead of myself with this post but I can't help but get excited about fall fashion right now.  Trust me, I'm still relishing in the last bit of summer but fall is handsdown my favorite time of year.  I've rounded up some things I'll be hopefully adding to my wardrobe over the next month or so.

The dresses are the perfect hue for fall and can easily be layered with tights and sweaters or jackets once winter hits.  Track pants are everywhere right now and they are so easy to wear!  They can easily be dressed up or down.  I love the idea of a striped jacket for layering - it's a little more exciting than a solid color blazer.  I'm obsessed with the embellishment on the sweater - another item that can easily be dressed up or down.  I love the sporty vibe of the t-shirt below and see it paired with jeans and when winter hits adding a long sleeve shirt under for added warmth.  The animal print mini bag basically speaks for itself - it's just so cute!  And animal print is huge again this season.  And in my opinion booties are a no-brainer for fall - I love how these two are different from the two pairs I own now.

What will you be adding to your wardrobe?

Business in the Front, Party in the Back

I'm so excited to show you guys what I styled from L. Mae Boutique!  If you tuned in on Wednesday I curated my favorites from their online boutique and today I'm excited to share my "business in the front, party in the back" adorbs dress with you guys!  This dress is technically completely business work environment friendly because the "party in the back" is a cute lace detail but perfectly appropriate because it's not see-through.  Sooo that basically doubles the fun with this dress.

It's been way too hot to wear much of anything in the city (hello heat wave!) but I can't wait to transition it to with some fun jackets and scarves.  What would you pair it with?

Florals & Marley Lilly Monograms

Happy Monday!  It has been scorching hot in NYC and also ridiculously humid.  I'm definitely not used to it since I grew up with the dry heat, so needless to say, yesterday's outfit photos were a bit of a struggle (hence the pulled back bangs).  I digress.

Today's post is really all about my new Marley Lilly monogram clutch. Lately I've been gravitating toward oversize clutches (see here and here) and I especially love this newest edition to my accessory collection.  It's large enough to hold everything I need for a night out or running errands and it has a wrist strap as well as along strap (think cross body or shoulder bag!).  Super versatile!  The color is perfect (I don't know why I always gravitate to this shade of pink), I love the large monogram and the quality is really good.
Marley Lilly has so many amazing monogrammed items - I ordered a friends wedding gift from the site last year.  Can we talk about some of the super cute things on their site like the monogrammed beach hats, running shorts and this weekender bag?!  A girl with a monogram weakness could go nuts on this site!  And everything is super affordable, which is even better (I'm sure my wallet will beg to differ).

Be sure to check out Marley Lilly for lots of monogram goodness!

Casual Florals and Stripes

This summer we get casual Friday's in our office which is really exciting because normally we don't have "casual" Friday.  It's ok to dress it down a bit but casual Friday this summer means being able to wear jeans if we want.  Since it's been entirely too hot for jeans I've been reaching for my denim jacket for my "casual" touch to this outfit.  What is your go-to for casual Fridays?

DC In An Insta

Did you notice the blog's facelift?!  Thanks to Mrs. Sommer Elston I have a pretty new logo and new social media buttons to match!  I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself.  I know Sommer from back home who recently started doing graphic design, and when she approached me about doing a logo I was so excited (I had been thinking about it for a while so it was perfect timing!).  For now you can find her on Instagram and pretty soon, on her own website.  Check her out and let her know if you need any design work done!

Back tracking a little here...  I went to DC for the first time about 3 weeks ago and had such an amazing weekend!  It's definitely added to my list of favorite cities.  We did a bunch of touristy things like the monuments and museums and also went to some fun local spots.  See what I wore on my trip down and some snaps of my adventures from Instagram:

A Tomato Safari

I get compliments every time I wear this blouse.  Everyone always likes the giraffes or the rhinos, and then they realize it's a whole slew of safari animals on my blouse which is pretty awesome.  Props to my grandma for getting me this blouse for Christmas - it's one of those quirky pieces that goes with a lot of things and adds a twist to any outfit.

Styled Now: Prabal Gurung x Target

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  I'm so excited to share one of my Prabal Gurung x Target pieces today!  It's such a bright color (and maybe a little too much for the season) but I couldn't resist putting it on!  I think this is one of the brightest pieces I've ever styled.  One of the keys to taking baby steps to styling a neon/bright piece is to ground it with a neutral.  I chose black because I thought the black tights and black vest would balance nicely.

What would you pair a bright piece like this with?

Layered Puffer Vest

Happy Friday everyone!  Remember my post from Wednesday?  Well I'm here to show you how I brought the puffer vest trend to life!  It was actually a little too hot for all of these layers but for blogging purposes I had to take one for the team ;).  And btw, I'm not complaining at all that it was a little too warm for all this.  I've been loving all the sunshine we've had lately!  So tell me, have you styled a puffer vest lately?  Leave a link in the comments below - I'd love to see it!
