Winterizing a Summer Favorite

I've been searching for the perfect black turtle neck sweater to layer over (or under) some of my favorite summer dresses and I finally found one over Christmas!  Cue the urge to wear it all.the.time.

I threw it on over one of my favorite summer dresses (from this post) and paired it with some boots and tights for an easy work look.  Speaking of boots, I'm finally showing you what I picked up at Nordstrom during mine and Jen's trip to NJ!  I wish I had an amazing story about being gifted these boots or something but instead it's just the result of developing quite the obsession over them and failing to find a good/cheaper alternative.  With that said, meet my new babies.  I never want to take them off.  Kudos Stuart, no wonder these have been so popular for 20 years.

Colorful Throwback

Happy Monday!  Hope ya'll had a great weekend.  I'm definitely throwin' it back a bit here with these outfits.  They are leftover from my trip to Napa with my besties back in August.  To the left is the outfit I wore wine tasting and to the right was my Sunday brunch/red-eye outfit.  I'm definitely trying to figure out a way to transition that maxi to the fall because I realized I love the colors so much.

Embellished Camo

Taking it back to NYFW with this outfit (I know, I've got a lot of photos back logged!).  I wore this little get up to the Reward Style NYFW party where I met a bunch of fab ladies.  I wanted my outfit to have a "Sunday Funday" theme but also to be chic enough for Fashion Week. 

Before the party I got together with Jen, Christine, Jessica, Krista, Jackie and Sydney for some mimosas and we snapped the pics below.

Life's Little Adventures

I'm baaaaaack!!!  After an almost two week hiatus, I'm back to posting on a regular schedule (hopefully).  Between moving, NYFW, an insane work schedule and the internet not working at my new apt I'm finally back to posting like normal.  Or at least I hope!

I'm ready to share my last little adventure of the summer with ya'll. Warning: this post is a bit long but worth it! I'm taking you back to Saturday of Labor Day weekend when I had originally planned on day tripping to Connecticut but when I saw a chance of rain I started to rethink my plans. I ended up joining in on James and Jen's adventures to the Hamptons/Montauk and had the most fabulous day. We started super early, picked up the rental car, drove to the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, did a little (read: a lot) of damage shopping and headed to Southampton for a late lunch. The Southampton Publick House was our stop and I had the best Cuban sandwich I've ever had in my life.



Then we strolled the streets of Southampton and window shopped a little. We made it into the GiGi New York store which was exciting because I've completely fallen in love with their bags.







 Then we hoped in the car to continue to Montauk. After a short pit stop at Hampton Coffee Co. it was a race against time to get to the lighthouse before sunset.  We made it just in time and spent a little time by the water at dusk (PS - Jen is a little Nascar driver when put under pressure!). It was my first time seeing the Atlantic Ocean (and a lighthouse) and it was amazing. Taking in the fresh air, listening to the waves crash and burying my feet in the sand was exactly what I needed that weekend.



For dinner we stopped by St. Peter's Catch and had the best fish n chips.  Clearly there was a lot of good food out there! Here's the outfit I picked for the day - GiGi clutch in tow:

How To: Coast to Coast Weekend Packing

I'm usually one to completely over pack for a trip but when I was preparing for a quick trip to the West Coast for a  bestie reunion a couple of weeks ago, I knew I couldn't overpack.  I planned to carry on and I also bought a new weekender bag (this Sole Society baby) to use.  The bag ended up being smaller than I had expected but I loved it so much I decided to keep it and rose to the challenge of using it for the weekend. 

My strategy was to pack things I could easily mix and match and I also had to have an outfit on hand in case I didn't make it into the city early enough to go home before work on Monday morning (I took a red-eye back on Sunday night.

Here's what I packed:

Striped Skirt - Joe Fresh, Striped Peplum - Target, Boyfriend Jeans - Forever21, White T-Shirt - Madewell, Scarf - Zara, Maxi Dress - c/o Parker (via internship), Blouse - Humble Chic, Striped Tank - Gap, Floral Skirt - Loft, Jean Jacket - Elle, Bracelets - Ily Couture & Kristin Hassan, Clutch - Gigi New York, Wedges - Nickels, Gladiators - Nine West

You already saw my travel outfit from the trip last week, but here are the combinations I could have made:
striped skirt + pink blouse
striped skirt + white tee
striped peplum + jeans
striped peplum + floral skirt
striped tank + boyfriend jeans
white tee + boyfriend jeans

And of course the scarf and jeans go with all these!  I also left a black blazer at the office over the weekend to throw on for work (and it's a good thing I did, I went straight to work from the airport!).

Dressy Lady

Happy Monday!!  I hope you all had a fab weekend.  Mine sure was great, I finally made it home to visit and had a blast at the Rodeo.  It really is true that you can take a girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl.  It was so great to see so many old friends and now I'm so excited to hang out with my family the next couple of days!

I first saw this dress on Blair's blog and immediately fell in love so when it went on sale I hunted it down!  And by hunted it down I went to three different Ann Taylor stores in the city and eventually had to order it online because they didn't have my size at all in the stores.  I have to say I'm glad I went on the hunt because it's been a great addition to my work wardrobe.

Polka Dots Untucked

Sometimes you just don't want to tuck in your shirt, ya know?  I mean, when it comes to weekend style it's always nice to be a little untucked (considering I work in a profesh office environment where I try to keep it fairly "buttoned up," especially when I'm seeing clients).  I was so excited about my new teal pumps I just had to bust them out last weekend.  What do you think?  They're a little 80's but so amazing!
