Leopard and (faux) Leather

Happy Monday everyone! No, I didn't copy this outfit directly from Blair; I actually took these pictures well over a month ago.  Read: the beginning days of owning this sweater before my obsession truly set in.  Kinda funny how similar the looks are!  And even though I took these photos about a month ago, the weather has been such that I could definitely wear it now.  It's such an easy combination and shows how you can take a pair of shorts from summer to fall to winter (as long as it's not freezing where you are this winter) with the addition of tights and a chunky knit.

Sweater: Gap, Shorts: Sears (old but similar here and here), Tights: Anthropologie, Shoes: Me Too (other favorites here and here), Bracelets: Stella & Dot & Thrifted, Purse: Louis Vuitton

TGIF/Liebster Award!

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all had a great week!  I'm taking a break from all the outfit/shopping inspo today and helping you get a little more acquainted with me!

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that over a week ago (I know, I realize that was a while ago but I've been ridiculously busy!) that I had been nominated for a Liebster Award by Tania of The Blogolista!  The Liebster Blog award is for up and coming bloggers and is sort of a chain mail for bloggers.  First I'll give you some random facts about me and then answer some questions (below the pictures)!  And the girls I'm nominating are at the very bottom of the post.  I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little better!

From the top, left to right: I've run two half and two full marathons, I was a TriDelta in college, I have a weakness for chocolate, I once won money gambling and bought Louis, I have an obsession with water towers (and old barns), I like to be a cowgirl sometimes, I've been chukar hunting (and actually got a bird) and I really like picons, whiskey and wine

What is your favorite thing about being a blogger?
At first I loved blogging because it was a creative outlet in my "not always fashion savvy" world in my hometown, but now it's really about the sense of community and being surrounded by people who share common interests with me (and of course hoping to inspire people!).

What is your ultimate goal as a blogger?
Experiences.  I really hope blogging can give me some experiences with people, brands, the world, that I wouldn't have found if I didn't start blogging.

If you could collaborate with one brand, which would it be?
This is such a tough question! It's a major toss-up between J.Crew, DVF, Rachel Zoe and Michael Kors.

Favorite designer?
Really tough question again.  Lately I've been loving everything Vince; I love J.Crew, DVF and Rachel Zoe (of course); and Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Tadashi Shoji and BCBG.

The most awesome thing in your closet is…
My vintage real leather pencil skirt. I need to get it tailored but I am obsessed with it.  It made an appearance here.

Favorite blogger?
I have the biggest girl crush on Blair from Atlantic-Pacific.  And I also absolutely adore Krystal of This Time Tomorrow (she is my ultimate inspiration for my blog and a little secret, we went to high school together :) ).

Favorite season and why?
Fall!!!  I love the numerous ways you can transform your spring/summer wardrobe into fall and I love the changing of the leaves.  I think it's a magical time of year because you start to anticipate all the excitement of the holiday festivities!

Favorite place to shop?
I do a lot of online shopping (love Nordstrom online), J.Crew, Gap, LOFT, Zara, C.Wonder and many others.

If you could meet any celebrity, who would it be and why?
Jennifer Aniston.  I grew up loving her in Friends and all the movies she has starred in and I think she is absolutely gorgeous.

When you grew up, you wanted to be…
Anything from a fashion designer to a doctor to an architect.

What are your plans for next year? (traveling, blogging, etc.)
Let's see....  I'd love to get a "real" job here in NYC, travel the East Coast (I am dying to go to Connecticut, Maine, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C.), hopefully get back into marathon running and maybe finally go to Europe.

Channelling Blair

I actually wore this outfit last week and was going to do a post that incorporated brights on a sunny day but it seemed so inappropriate (considering our weather changed from 65 to 32 degrees overnight - AwfulIKnow).
So, here's my "channelling Blair of Atlantic-Pacific" outfit.  I obsess over her penchant for layering and especially layering button up shirts.  And there is honestly nothing better than gingham.  I'm thinking I should have worn the gingham over the top though - what do you think?

Shirts: J.Crew, Skirt: Forever 21, Tights: Kohl's, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Necklace: DIY'd here

Watch: Fossil, Bracelets: J.Crew and Gifted

Side note: I think photographing on the front porch is out of the question for now on.  Really bad lighting!

NYC #4 - Bloglovin' Awards

Alrighty readers, back to my NYC trip!  I'm having a lot of fun reliving the adventures in these posts (can you believe it's already been two weeks since I got back?  sad face).

The last night I was in town I was fortunate enough to attend the Bloglovin' Awards.  It was completely random and I was able to attend because my friend Alex was asked to represent Refinery 29 (they were up for the award Best Fashion News Blog!).  We found out we were going at about 4:00 (the event started at 7:30) so it was a mad dash to figure out what we were wearing.

I have to say, it was an incredible event.  I was in the presence of some of my most idolized bloggers: Helena of Brooklyn Blonde, Blair of Atlantic-Pacific, Kimberly of Eat.Sleep.Wear, Andy of The Style Scrapbook and even Chiara of The Blonde Salad.  While Refinery 29 didn't win it was still quite the experience.
