The Right... Leather Shorts

IMG_5112

IMG_5108

I've been on the hunt for the perfect faux leather shorts for a while and when H&M decided to totally kill it with their fall collection, I saw these babies and knew I had to have them.  My old pair was very fitted and sometimes tough to wear so I am welcoming the upgrade.  And I can't wait to style them during this transitional weather.

#STLFW: Dinner & GLOW

Ready for the final outfit from St. Louis Fashion Week?!?  Well here it is!  I'm obsessed with the lighting in these photos - they were definitely worth the wait during our break (right Jackie?!)!    Scroll down to see my recap of the GLOW fashion show!

GLOW VIP Party with Katherine and Jackie
Below are my favorites from the GLOW show.  If you ask me, Paulie Gibson absolutely killed it with his menswear presentation.  I can't get over the abundance of tailored pieces, flannels, prints and color.  I would definitely buy some of his pieces for my boyfriend (that is a)if I had one and b)if he let me dress him!).  Michael Drummond's The Exquisite Corpse was very edgy and fashion forward.  The red ensemble was the finale piece and I just about died watching it go down the runway.  I could easily see it paired with a black blazer and pumps for the office. PS, when we told Michael we saw it styled this way he said it was genius and that he never thought of it like that.  Pretty awesome!

Hunter Heart

Happy Friday!  I can't believe how fast this week went by.  On Monday I felt like it would drag out but here we are entering the weekend (and a holiday weekend no less!).  What is everyone doing for the holiday?  Any travel plans?  Special holiday traditions?  I'm headed home on Sunday (for the first time since I left in August) and I couldn't be more excited.  I've been homesick to say the least!  I'll be there for 9 days too so hopefully I will get to catch up with everyone I've been missing so much.  Oh and maybe catch up on some sleep too.

Anyway, holiday traditions.  Mine is pretty simple.  Since my parents are divorced, I technically get two Christmases.  We (little brother and I) do presents with my mom Christmas morning and then head off to Grandma's to celebrate with my dad's side of the family.  My grandma always makes her signature coffee cake (and sends us home with leftovers!) for brunch and then we do gifts.  Then back to mom's for prime rib dinner.  Follow along on Instagram to see it all unfold :).

Back to the main focus of this post: my outfit!  This was the perfect outfit for walking the Highline a couple weeks ago.  Comfy and stylish.  And I love this sweater so much!

Have a happy weekend and safe travels!

Olive + Polka Dots

Last weekend I met up with Jenny & Jessica to stroll through Central Park in hopes of seeing the leaves in yellow/orange/red but they were still mostly green with hints of yellow and orange.  It was a beautiful afternoon nonetheless, despite the drizzly overcast weather.  I am so grateful to be able to surround myself with people that have the same interests as me and also connect with bloggers I used to follow when I lived in Reno.

Also, we rounded the corner of one of the paths and came to the very famous row of trees/benches/lampposts and had a total "ah-ha!" moment because we all recognized this location from photos and movies but didn't know exactly where it was.  Here's what I wore that afternoon!

#StyleMeMay 2 for 1

Can you believe today is the last day of May?  I'm having a hard time with it!  Not sure why - I guess it just seems like it was yesterday I was in NYC at Fashion Week and then starting #StyleMeMarch.  I want to take a minute and thank everyone that reads this little guy.  It means the world to me - that I can share my passion with you all.

For today's post I have a little story.  I actually wore this yesterday for #StyleMeMay: Fancy.  It's been quite a while since I've worn this sequin top because it feels very fall/winter to me and with no luck of finding a summer sequin top I decided I had to find a way to make it work and not feel like December.  Enter my new fuscia skirt (thank you Nordstrom semi-annual sale!) and voila!  We are getting there.  Then I realized I had my gingham shirt hanging at the front of my closet and thought, "well, maybe we can treat this sequin top like a sweater and layer it..."  And here is the final product.  It amazes me that some mornings I'll put on very normal things and will think I look weird but in the case I put on this completely off the wall look (or maybe it's not?) and became absolutely obsessed with it.

And why is the title of this post "#StyleMeMay 2 for 1"?  Well, today's #StyleMeMay just so happens to be "never paired together."  Because I haven't ever paired together a sequin top, gingham button up and fuscia skirt (or at least not since I can remember, but there were those dress up days as a little girl...).

Btw, I was really disappointed by the lack of comments I received today - not because I was fishing for them but because I thought this was a little outrageous and I figured everyone at my office would have a field day with it.  Not the case however...

Also!  Don't forget to enter my Stella & Dot giveaway!!

Monochromatic Purple

Blouse: LC by Lauren Conrad, Skirt: H&M, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Black Bracelet: BaubleBar

This was one of those outfits where I thought it looked great in the morning but the more I saw the color combo in the mirror throughout the day, I started to second guess myself...  Do you ever have those days?

Easter Stripes

I am absolutely in love with the dress I bought last Friday.  I wore it on Easter but also show here how I would style it for work - by throwing on an orange blazer.  If you wanted to tone it down a little more you could just do a black or tan blazer.

#StyleMeMarch: Over A Dress

So, yesterday probably wasn't the best day to be bare-legged.  While it looks nice and sunny in these photos the wind was just chilling.  I felt a little silly by the end of the day but, oh well!  At least I liked my outfit!

Dress worn as skirt: BCBG, Shirt: J. Crew, Shoes: Gianni Bini, Necklace & Bracelet: BaubleBar, Watch: Fossil

This was my look for StyleMeMarch "over a dress."  What do you think?
