The Right... Snow Day

I'm sure you heard about the massive snow storm that hit the East Coast two weekends ago (we're talking 25-30" in New York City alone!).  I wanted to share some of my snow day snaps with you, starting with halfway through the storm.  While I've had a lot of low key weekends lately (I've been feeling the need for some restorative "me" time), expecting to be snowed in does crazy things to people mentally.  Had it been any other weekend I probably would have had a low key Saturday mostly indoors but just knowing I "couldn't" go outside made me insanely stir crazy so I ventured over to Carl Schurz park by my apartment.

The snow continued until at least 11 PM so when we woke up the next morning it was literally a winter wonderland, with the sun shining and blue skies.  I met up with some girlfriends and we ventured around Central Park (including stopping at the swing set and sledding down a super steep staircase by the Boathouse).

I didn't break the sled - it just so happened that everyone was sharing these janky broken sleds so we could all take part in the fun!

I also wanted to point out that people came out of the woodworks to enjoy the snow!  The park was insanely busy, including this deathtrap of children sledding down Cedar Hill (I kid...).

I hope you all are enjoying the winter weather you've been getting!

Olive + Polka Dots

Last weekend I met up with Jenny & Jessica to stroll through Central Park in hopes of seeing the leaves in yellow/orange/red but they were still mostly green with hints of yellow and orange.  It was a beautiful afternoon nonetheless, despite the drizzly overcast weather.  I am so grateful to be able to surround myself with people that have the same interests as me and also connect with bloggers I used to follow when I lived in Reno.

Also, we rounded the corner of one of the paths and came to the very famous row of trees/benches/lampposts and had a total "ah-ha!" moment because we all recognized this location from photos and movies but didn't know exactly where it was.  Here's what I wore that afternoon!
