#StyleMeMay 2 for 1

Can you believe today is the last day of May?  I'm having a hard time with it!  Not sure why - I guess it just seems like it was yesterday I was in NYC at Fashion Week and then starting #StyleMeMarch.  I want to take a minute and thank everyone that reads this little guy.  It means the world to me - that I can share my passion with you all. 

For today's post I have a little story.  I actually wore this yesterday for #StyleMeMay: Fancy.  It's been quite a while since I've worn this sequin top because it feels very fall/winter to me and with no luck of finding a summer sequin top I decided I had to find a way to make it work and not feel like December.  Enter my new fuscia skirt (thank you Nordstrom semi-annual sale!) and voila!  We are getting there.  Then I realized I had my gingham shirt hanging at the front of my closet and thought, "well, maybe we can treat this sequin top like a sweater and layer it..."  And here is the final product.  It amazes me that some mornings I'll put on very normal things and will think I look weird but in the case I put on this completely off the wall look (or maybe it's not?) and became absolutely obsessed with it. 

And why is the title of this post "#StyleMeMay 2 for 1"?  Well, today's #StyleMeMay just so happens to be "never paired together."  Because I haven't ever paired together a sequin top, gingham button up and fuscia skirt (or at least not since I can remember, but there were those dress up days as a little girl...).

TGIF/Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Friday!  I don't know about you but I'm really excited to have a long weekend and have not too much planned! 

I started the week off by buying myself some gorgeous peonies for my office.  I think I'm going to start buying fresh flowers for my office every week - it definitely improved my attitude!

I lusted after this dress all week (so much that I put it in my Memorial Day brunch post yesterday!) and I'm really hoping I can find it on sale this weekend!

The Military Jacket

Wore this casual shift dress/military jacket combo yesterday.  I posted on my Instagram a while ago that I had practiced quality over quantity with this jacket (instead of going with Forever I went with a jacket from Michael Kors).  It's a little large in the sleeves but I love it (and I wear them rolled up all the time so it doesn't matter that much!).

How was your weekend?  I had a pretty busy weekend with some friends and my boyfriend graduating, a dinner honoring my boyfriend's grandfather, celebrating graduation and attending a musical/dinner with my grandmother and brother.  It was a great weekend!

TGIF/Weekend Ready!

I am so ready for this weekend!  Lots of things happening!  It was one of those weeks where I thought it was Thursday but realized it was only Wednesday.  Darn humpday. 

Anyway, I'm gearing up for quite the busy weekend.  Little's (sorority sister that is) graduation party tonight, Boyfriend/Boyfriend's Cousin/Little's graduation tomorrow, Boyfriend's Grandfather's Hall of Fame induction dinner tomorrow night and then seeing a play with the Grandma (it's our bi-yearly tradition!) on Sunday.  Whew.  I'm feeling tired already!  I've been channeling the look of this skirt and want to find something like it to hopefully wear to one of these occasions this weekend (I checked out the thrift stores around town last night and came up with something close, but not with sequins):

 How amaze is this skirt?  I love the sequin look and I have a dark gray sequin top but that doesn't translate too well to Spring/Summer.

Short Suits

I've really been loving the short suit trend lately!  The longer versions are perfect for work during the summer and the colorful versions are great for brunch.  The other benefit to the colored versions?  You can easily just wear the jacket or just the shorts - talk about massive wardrobe options!
