The Right... Go-To October Outfit

  I know you've seen these sneakers a couple of times now (here and here in my Fitness Friday posts) but I recently received a request to style them in an every day outfit (because if you haven't caught on, they're all the rage right now).  If you've followed me long enough though, you know I'm usually not the first to hop on a trend bandwagon but this one came just at the right time.  Since I've been on the road to recovery from an IT band injury while marathon training I haven't really worn heels for at least 5 weeks.  Yes, I know, I've worn them in my blog posts but I have to confess I haven't strutted around in them very long.    In an effort to pamper my feet and stay fashionable, I've incorporated these into my wardrobe pretty much every day so it's only fitting they made it into my go-to October outfit.  It looks like Jackie fell for the sneaker trend this month too - be sure to check out her look as well!   Oh and sorry for the semi-awkward poses - I was doing my best to hide the tape job from my PT.  T-4 days til my body gets a rest!

East vs. West: Fall Beauty

    I have to admit, I was never really a beauty project junkie, and definitely rarely explored outside of my typical light shimmery shadow, black liner and mascara combo until I moved to NYC.  I definitely had an affinity toward constantly painting my nails before I moved here but wearing lipstick or even caring about my eye brows one slightest bit?  It was never a thought.  And then I moved here, met Jen, loved her lip colors and decided to start dabbling.  And then I met Jackie and continued to dabble but secretly obsessed over how amazing her makeup always looked (or should I say looks all.the.time.).  Then, Krista hosted this awesome makeup party before the rS party during NYFW and the MUA used a sort of eyebrow mascara and I was hooked.     When we had the chance to work with Laqa & Co I was ecstatic because that just meant more lip colors and polishes to play with.  Their lip pencils are seriously awesome (my favorites are the Menatour sheer lip lube pencil and the Wolfman Fat Lip Pencil).  I'm wearing Plonk nail polish in this post.  Be sure to check out everyone's beauty looks with the links below!

The Right... Over the Knee Boots

    I quickly fell in love with over the knee boots last year when I bought my first pair of Stuart Weitzman's but I typically have a really hard time finding boots that fit my calves (and some OTK boots fit a little too tight and looked horrid on).  You may not be able to tell from my posts, but let me tell you, they are huge.  I was super excited to find these Shoedazzle OTK boots because I was looking for a pair to switch out my SW's every once in a while.      And right now, pairing my OTK boots with a fall dress and jacket is a spot-on combo for fall!  What would you pair them with?

Fitness Friday: Marathon Training Check In

  Happy Friday everyone!  I have to admit, I've been very spoiled at work - prior to this week I hadn't worked a normal/full week at my job since the middle of August [insert guilty face emoji here].  As awesome as it was it was kind of a wake up call this week!  I definitely had multiple cups of coffee days (that was probably due to the weather too - it was verrrry rainy this week).  


  I wanted to check in with you and get a little status update on my marathon training.  And also, talk about being really real with you guys.  Today's outfit is nothing special at all - I'm sure you're thinking a trench, leggings and sunnies?  What?  Well I have to admit, I've been living in these sneakers because I will not risk hurting my feet/legs by wearing heels and most of the time on the weekends lately I've been running around in my workout gear because when you're in pain most of the time comfort really does become key.  Also I feel like I'm not being completely honest with you if I didn't show you my dressed down side once in a while.  
  Luckily my PT is amazing and I'm on the mend from my little IT band injury (after 2 sessions a week for the last couple of weeks) and I'm bound and determined to finish this marathon.  And make it a great race.  I had a lot of doubts but I completed 17 miles last weekend (12 running, 5 quick walking) and it really gave me  a mental boost.  And on race day, it's honestly about 80% mental.  I'm definitely starting to feel a little overwhlemed because I realized this is the largest race I've ever run (I think NWM was only like 15,000 runners).  In the end though, I'm just going to focus on the journey and enjoy myself.  I keep visualizing my November Project peeps waiting for me at the #mile14 takeover (they're working the water station!) and my friends waiting for me at the end.  They've been nothing short of supportive and they can't even begin to understand how much it's meant for me to constantly yap about the race and running and my injury and blah, blah, blah.

East vs. West: Fall Boots

 Boots and booties are one of those quintessential fall trends that make me super happy - I can expect to be living in boots until winter is over.  Oh and this sweater?  Yes, I'm wearing it in yet another blog post - sorry but it's just too good.  Jackie and I took these photos when I was bumming around Westchester with her for a quick city escape and Octoberfest the other weekend.  How good is this backdrop?  I promise it's real ;).    I love how everyone styled their boots this week!!  Make sure you check them out!

The Right... Navy Loafers

  I had the pleasure of interviewing David Bromstad a couple of weeks ago to talk about his newest collection with Naturalizer and let me just say, it was AWESOME.  He is hilarious and you can tell his designs are completely original and based largely on his personality.  I've loved David ever since his HGTV Design Star days (my mom has also been a huge fan since) and to spend some time with him in person and be able to chat about one of my favorite things on the planet was completely surreal.     Also, I must note, you HAVE to make it into a Naturalizer store to check out the collection in person - the photos on the website don't give the detail or comfort justice.  Speaking of comfort, I'm so thankful for my new pair of loafers from the collection because they're the perfect little pillows to put on my feet while I finish out this marathon training.   I'm also loving this moto boot, these heels and this Chelsea boot in the collection!

The Right... End of Summer Chambray

  Happy Saturday!  For some reason I always feel like short weeks can be some of the craziest/longest - am I right?  We were lucky enough to have Monday off and I spent most of the day vegging but then it was full speed ahead on Tuesday.  I hope you have some fun plans this weekend!  I have a few friends in town so I can't wait to do some catching up!   I realize it's been very rainy in the city this week but I found these pictures from the end of summer and realized I never posted them to the blog!  I am working on a "chambray transition" post because I'm not quite ready to put this dress away for the winter!   Stay tuned for that!   And before I forget, make sure you head to Monday's post to enter to win a $75 Sole Society credit!  They are by far one of my favorite shoe sources because their styles are so affordable and SO cute - what would you snag if you won?

East vs. West: Oversized Knits

Next to leather I think my favorite trend for this series is this week's oversized knits.  There's something super comforting about throwing on what feels like a blanket and heading to work, brunch or out on the town.  Today's look could definitely be worn in the office or out to brunch (and for work I may even switch out the tee for a blouse and add some heels), but for a night out I'd probably throw on some faux leather leggings, heels and add some spice with a statement necklace.  Oh and my apologies in advanced, you're going to see this sweater a lot in the coming months #sorrynotsorry.   Make sure you check out everyone's looks and if you missed yesterday's post be sure to check it out to enter to win a $75 Sole Society credit!
