East vs. West: New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is right around the corner and I couldn't be more excited.  I'll be back in the city for the second year and I'm looking forward to ringing in the new year with close friends.  I've strayed away from the super fancy parties the last couple of years because I feel like they always get this hype and then don't live up to it.  I'd much rather keep it low-key.

I'm really looking forward to 2015 - I feel like 2014 was quite the year and can't wait to share a post of reflections next week.

I'd love to hear what you're wearing for NYE and be sure to check out my East vs. West babe's outfits as well!

East vs. West: Holiday Hostess

I definitely love entertaining, especially during the holidays, but I have to admit that I haven't done much of it since moving to NYC.  The space makes it challenging and the hectic schedule also makes it challenging so today I had to pretend a little.  Luckily I feel like a "holiday hostess" outfit can also double as a "holiday guest" outfit so you're also seeing the outfit I wore at Jackie's holiday party.
Oh and before I forget, let's take a moment to recognize this leather jacket and these pumps.  It's really awesome getting to work with amazing brands on this blog and getting to add quality items to my closet.  I think it's safe to say I have two new obsessions!
Check out the rest of the East vs. West girl's hostess outfits!

Full disclosure: I'm not wearing tights and I was regretting it for sure - it was frigid when we shot these!

East vs. West: Holiday Shopping

EastvsWest Holiday Shopping

I'm super excited about today's post because as much as I love getting all dressed up for the holidays, a casual outfit here and there is nice.  And I feel like we can't forget about holiday shopping because that's definitely one of the most important things to do this month.  I've found that running around in easy layers like a scarf, sweater dress, tights and boots makes it a) comfortable for shopping and b) easy to go from outside to inside (although sometimes I still struggle with the extreme temperature changes when walking indoors or outdoors).  What's your go-to holiday shopping look?  Be sure to check out how everyone else styled their looks!

Can we pause for a second and talk about these boots?  They're by Duo and they're super awesome because you pick your size AND your calf size.  Talk about a win-win for everyone (again, I've got some huge hams back there so I'm always on the hunt for stylish solutions to the problem!).

East vs. West: Fall Beauty

IMG_9239

I have to admit, I was never really a beauty project junkie, and definitely rarely explored outside of my typical light shimmery shadow, black liner and mascara combo until I moved to NYC.  I definitely had an affinity toward constantly painting my nails before I moved here but wearing lipstick or even caring about my eye brows one slightest bit?  It was never a thought.  And then I moved here, met Jen, loved her lip colors and decided to start dabbling.  And then I met Jackie and continued to dabble but secretly obsessed over how amazing her makeup always looked (or should I say looks all.the.time.).  Then, Krista hosted this awesome makeup party before the rS party during NYFW and the MUA used a sort of eyebrow mascara and I was hooked.

When we had the chance to work with Laqa & Co I was ecstatic because that just meant more lip colors and polishes to play with.  Their lip pencils are seriously awesome (my favorites are the Menatour sheer lip lube pencil and the Wolfman Fat Lip Pencil).  I'm wearing Plonk nail polish in this post.  Be sure to check out everyone's beauty looks with the links below!

East vs. West: Oversized Knits

IMG_5899
EastvsWest Knits
District Sparkle  //  Living After Midnite  //  Envision Pretty  //  Pursuit of Shoes  //  Oomph.
Next to leather I think my favorite trend for this series is this week's oversized knits.  There's something super comforting about throwing on what feels like a blanket and heading to work, brunch or out on the town.  Today's look could definitely be worn in the office or out to brunch (and for work I may even switch out the tee for a blouse and add some heels), but for a night out I'd probably throw on some faux leather leggings, heels and add some spice with a statement necklace.  Oh and my apologies in advanced, you're going to see this sweater a lot in the coming months #sorrynotsorry.

Make sure you check out everyone's looks and if you missed yesterday's post be sure to check it out to enter to win a $75 Sole Society credit!
