The Right... Happy and Healthy Holidays

I don't know about you but I hit FULL holiday mode this week.  Between three evening events (one of them work related) and two breakfast events/meetings I have to attend this week, my Monday - Friday grind is crazy.  Oh and then you can throw in the holiday brunch I have on Saturday as well as the two holiday events on Sunday.  And I haven't even gotten to the week after/leading up to my trip home!  I'm definitely not complaining because it's such a great time of year and many of these events are with people I really love, but knowing how crazy this week was going to be, I wanted to share a couple of simple ways I'm staying healthy this holiday season.  Because feeling good is just as important as looking good, amiright?

First up, the easiest green smoothie on the planet.  Ingredients: 1 cup almond milk (I like the unsweetened vanilla but plain works well too!), 1 frozen banana, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder and a huge handful of spinach.

Blend it all together and within minutes you've got an easy way to get a serving of greens for the day.

I really like this new protein powder from Tone It Up.  My big black Friday purchase was their starter kit with a few other goodies and this has become a quick favorite.  It also has a little bit of caffeine which is perfect for a mid-morning pick me up.  I personally won't replace an entire meal with this smoothie, but it makes a great mid-morning snack to get me through til lunchtime.  You can also add chia seeds or almond butter to make it a little heartier.

I have also become a huge believer in the power of herbal tea.  During flu and cold season I drink at least one cup of Immune Support or Cold Season tea (I get mine at Whole Foods) in addition to my daily vitamins and extra Vitamin C.  No time to be sick here!

Aside from getting up and getting moving early in the morning, which the Tone It Up girls suggest, I've been focused on getting at least 7 hours of sleep.  Full disclosure: I've had very little time to hit the gym but to counter that I've been walking as much as possible and the weather has really helped with this!

Would love to hear what you're doing this holiday season to stay healthy!
