The Right... NYC Love Letter

You guys.  I totally meant to post this yesterday but I was having such an issue with links and then fell asleep passed out and what do ya know, I definitely skipped posting on the day this whole post is about...  So here goes, a day late:

Yesterday morning I woke up the sun with an incredible group of people, completed a total 7 mile run, did about 8 minutes of planks, just shy of 100 burpees, and all before 7:30 AM.  Oh and I rode the subway to work with a big fat smile on my face (partially because it was almost empty but also because of the positivity I carried with me from the morning's workout - but really, God bless Friday's in the summer because the subway is dead).  Stick with me because I promise this entire post has a point (or two).

I also realized as I was running home from the workout that yesterday's date marks my 2 year NYC-versary.  Crazy to think of the difference between my 1 year and this year (last year I totes had a whole celebratory photo shoot on the BK bridge with Jen and planned this really exciting outfit and was bursting for joy because Lord, I made it an entire year in this city).  This year was different though.  I realized I've finally found my groove and am not focusing my time on counting down to my NYC-versary but rather focusing on my health, on strengthening my friendships and developing professionally.  All while trying to slip in this thing called fun.

Without further adieu, here's my NYC Love Letter:

Dear New York City,

It's been a whirlwind of two years with you.  You definitely tested me my first year here.  Like beyond anything I ever expected.  I knew it wouldn't be easy but I didn't know it'd be that hard.  The mind games - thank you for slowing them down a little in my second year, but thank you for them because they're definitely keeping me on my toes.  I know I can't get too comfortable here - you've made that clear - but I appreciate you letting me get settled in and find my groove.  Yes, I know it took a while for me to realize I actually do love you and I'm sorry about that, but I think you've seen lately that I'm all about you.  Also, my friends second family?  They amazing.  Thank you for helping me find them. And thank you for all the crazy adventures I've had with them.  There have been too many for the books.

At first, I didn't think the whole "summer of yes" thing was such a good idea but now I know it leads to some pretty unforgettable adventures.  Winters though.  Can you tone it down a bit?  Seasonal depression is not a good look for anyone (you know this too).

And the subway.  Your Second Avenue subway line needs to be done stat because I don't think it's healthy that I've been too close to comfort with so many strangers on my morning commute.

Thank you New York City for helping me find myself, find what I love and for loving me back (even if it's just a little).  Thank you for teaching me to hustle and work for what I really want

Keep the good times comin' - you know I'm always up for an adventure and I can't wait to see what we do together next.

xo, Tracy
